    Hey All,

Thinking of buying a stepper and just wanted to know does anyone get good results from using them?

I work at a p.c for 8 hours a day so if i go to the gym or for walk i get tired really quickly. i was going to start off with a stepper to tone my legs, then when i get used to this I'd start going to the gym.

Is there any point in buying one?

    thanks :D

I'm not sure why it follows that working at a PC for 8 hours means you get tired when you go to the gym or walk?

The best exercise is one that you will actually do. Most home fitness equipment is low quality and ends up dumped in the spare room under the Christmas decorations and general jumble. Personally I would join the gym from the word go. You might not manage much at first but there will be more variety, better quality and it's a bit more sociable.

I got one and found it boring and wasnt able to break a sweat on it at all. I got it in argos since I knew I could get my cash back within 16 days. If you do get one, go to argos as you will probably want to do the same!

A skipping rope would be far better. Or just do bodysquats at home, those can make you work up a real sweat.

Best thing to do at home for losing fat and getting "toned" is weights IMO

    "I work at a p.c for 8 hours a day"

So your job is like most people then. You have another 16hrs in the day and you want to buy a stepper - get real!

Join gym and go regularly or get settled in for illness and low energy levels

Most of those stepper things look like gimmickry

It's not the lack of tone of you legs that's making you tired from walking, it's the sedentary lifestyle and general level of unfitness - Walking will get easier very quickly if you do it every day. And you'll feel your energy levels increasing. You'll begin to enjoy it - and miss it if you don't go.

Do you get an hour for lunch? Go walking at lunchtime - I'd fall asleep at my desk if I didn't walk. Be prepared - bring good shoes and a raincoat or umbrella to work. No excuses if it's spitting rain outside. If you get less time for lunch eat at your desk and go walking then. Worried about what your coleagues think? f**k 'em!

Do you use public transport? Next bus not for 15 minutes? walk to the next bus stop. get off a stop earlier and walk home. Don't use the car when you could easily walk to the shops.

Don't use escalators and lifts when you can use stairs - especially going down (it's shocking the amount of people you see choosing the escalator rather than go down 5 steps on the way to the baggage reclaim in Dublin airport).

No one can do this but you - if you get up and get moving you'll find you have the energy for tons of different exercise very quickly.

If you already have gym membership - use it - it's better that a lot of cheap rubbish for home use. Treadmill, swimming pool, weights, cross trainer etc.. they all get easier with use

Yes - you will do it for a week or two and it does nothing to the legs compared to the hugely better squats, lunges, deadlifts etc No one is truly strapped for time. The only one i know strapped for time is a sister of a client of mine - with 10 kids and still did the marathon last year!
