Workout without weights

    Hi Guys

Would really appreciate any help with this one.
Over the past few months I've gotten into a good routine of working out with both cardio and weights. Starting to get into decent shape n getting more toned.

Just wondering if anyone has any workout routines that don't include weights (or any other aids) that would allow me to continue this? Basically I'm heading off for 6 months travel in Asia, Oz, NZ and South America and I want to continue with this but obviously getting to gyms etc wont be an option most of the time. I don't want to come back to square one in 6 months time so if anyone has any workout routines that can be done using only the human body that will maintain fitness and improve muscle / tone that'd be great.

    Cheers

"Never Gymless" by Ross Enamait over at www.rosstraining.com is a great guide to bodyweight exercise. It's extremely comprehensive, it would take a long long time to conquer all the exercises in that book.

His website has videos if you wanna see the kinda training he teaches.

Cheers for the replies guys. Looks to be some good routines there. To be honest I'll be reasonably happy if i can just keep myself ticking over during my time away and be at a reasonable level when I get back.

Has anyone tried these routines? Are they as / less effective as weight training? Maybe I'm wrong but I feel it'd be difficult to make any real progress given that you haven't got the option of increasing the resitance levels for your workout...

Working against resistance causes your body to adapt and build muscle. Whether that resistance comes from a barbell or the weight of you doing a handstand pushup doesn't really matter.

There's plenty of room to make exercises more difficult as you go on.

Push up - > Different hand variations of push ups -> Push up from a medicine ball - > Push up with a resistance band -> Push up with a sand bag -> One arm push up -> 4 Finger Push up, it's pretty endless and just limited by how creative you want to get.
