    Hey folks,

I'm always hungry at the moment and found this stuff to be filling and appears to be healthy enough. I was wondering if one of the people here could take a quick look at it and tell me if it's any good or not. I'm trying to put on a bit of weight.

Sugar is its second biggest ingredient and it also has glucose syrup and honey in it - that's a whole lot of sweetness!!

If its specifically a muesli you're after try Flahavan's Hi8 Muesli (get it at any good supermarket).

    Not very good for me?
Dammit, I was living off this stuff for a few weeks now.

How much is Flahavans roughly/what are the ingrediants?

I only went for the Oat Cereal in the first place as it was very cheap and I'm going through the broke student phase.

All that extra sugar will play havoc with your insulin and will tend to mess with your appetite.

I don't have the ingredients to hand, but I know it has no added sugar and consists of oats and dried fruit.

If you're stuck though why not just buy jumbo packs of oats and make your own muesli? Oats + dried fruit + chopped nuts = basic muesli!

    Thanks mate,

Is it to be eaten dry or are you expected to put milk on it?

I tried some Dunnes stuff before that was covered in vile white stuff.

I wish they would leave wheat out of these mueslis. The ones that don't have wheat cost an arm and a leg. I know you can make your own but it would be nice to be able to get one off the shelf in the supermarket.

    That's my Sunday evening moan..:D

Porridge is an excellent choice...I had an Aunt who piled on the pounds during the mid-nineties and we used to sing Oasis's No.2 hit 'Roll with it' to her to try and get a rise out of her and also to make her aware that she had a few rolls of fat to spare. When she started with the whole Porridge/Oatmeal malarkey and took a brisk stroll every noon she wasn't long in losing the excess weight..To top it all off,we actually suceeded in getting her into Oasis and she attended the second concert in Pairc Ui Chaoimh in the heady summer of 96'...

Did you actually think it was good? if so for what reason? I am always interested in the scams they use on packs. That ingredients list reads pretty bad. They even hide the % of sugar, did they even show a "of which sugars" on the carb per 100g list?

I do have some sweet cereals, you simply dilute them with porridge oats. Tesco have a lovely oat, maple & pecan mix, very sugary but goes well with porridge oats.

does anybody know if porridge oats is oatmeal?

Second this, I love the stuff. You can chop up some fruit - grapes, strawberries, bananas, whatever you like - and add if you want to make it more interesting.
Dunnes sometimes has 2 for 1 offers on it, stock up then cos it disappears off the shelf pretty fast!
