Your tips for packing healthy meals to work

I have many questions coming up but first I need to know: How do you eat extra meals that are calorie controlled and protein rich, etc. when you go to work?

I am trying to think of ways that will facilitate this for me that will not be so onerous that it will make me give up after the first week (and not so expensive).

I'm wondering if I should buy packaged soups, or other meals, as my eating options around the office are not good.

    Advice tips?

    Some ideas:
At work I usually have the following:
2 slices of brown bread with one of the following:
    - Salmon and feta
    - Cottage cheese and chives
    - Peanut butter
    - turkey/ham/chicken and cheddar cheese

Then I have a salad which is usually:
    - Rocket or baby spinach
    - tomato
    - Small bit of onion and/or peppers
    - Turkey breast (about the size of chicken breast - cooked in George foreman type thing) - or chicken/salmon occasionally instead
    - Feta cheese
    - Some pumpkin seed oil, black pepper and 1/2 a spoon of pesto
All this is mixed together in a smallish lunch box.

Aside from cooking the turkey this takes 10 minutes to prepare in the morning.
If I need another meal at work I usually have a fruit salad - whatever fruit (usually 2 or 3 pieces depending on what fruit), half a small carton of natural yoghurt and sometimes some museli or oatsflakes with it.

If anyone has any information on how to eat on night shifts, could this be added to your response also?

    Cheers!.

I sometimes for college cook chicken fillets, throw them in a container, leave them in a fridge overnight and I bring in the container into college. It's helps, but they're very rough to eat.

It depends on the facilities you have available to you in work tbh. Over the summer i didnt have access to a fridge so that made it pretty awkward.

Outside of the main lunch time I try to plan snacks that are filling but i can get into me relatively quickly or much on. Sometimes i have a protein shake with carrot and celery sticks, other times i have a portion of mixed nuts and an apple or something.

I am confused by your question honestly, the difference between me eating well and eating okay really does come down to planning. I have my lunch and snacks and dinners planned for next week and ill go shopping later to make sure i have everything that i need. the downside of this is that i am bloody starving after doing it!

I suppose I just want to know how others manage. I have to eat enough protein for body building, but less fat to be able to get rid of my padding. this will require planning ahead and shopping for the right foods to take to work.

So I'm curious to find out how others manage and if they have any tips to facilitate this. In other words, are there pre-packaged foods that are convenient and healthy that you buy, are there things one can find at the local Londis or Spar that are likewise, good for you?

How many meals do you eat during work, etc.

Buy these at the weekend. Each day at work bring enough with you for a handful-ish portion per hour.
    • almonds / cashew nuts
    • tuna
    • grapes
    • apples / banana / oranges
    • bottle (for filling with water)
    • plastic container & fork filled with 2 or 3 chopped carrots / peppers

    Avoid this stuff:
    • pasta
    • rice
    • bread

I went from 75kg to 70kg in a few months early last year doing that, whilst getting stronger and faster. Almonds and grapes really complement each other, with a mouthful of water. Try it.

As i said before if i dont pre-plann my meals it kinda all goest to pot tbh really, i also find it easier to not deviate from my eating plan if i had decided what i am eating before i get hungry

Salads and stuff arent too bad if there's mo mayo etc, cans on tuna can just be drained and mixed in.

    In work i eat 3 meals, 10am, 1pm and 3.30/4.
