Diet Question

I've just finished working out my diet thanks to the handy sticky and I've managed to stick to it for the past two days anyway. My only question is regards creatine/protein shakes.

I'm using the pronutrition creatine ( can't think of the name now ) and it says to take one in the morning and one after workout. According to the side of the box each serving has 30g of carbs. Now I usually have oats ( 70g of carbs )in the morning and with this added 30g of creatine carbs, does this mean that I've effectively taken in 100g of carbs ( <--- sorry if that's pure stupidity but I'd like to be sure ) So in future should I have less oats to compinsate for this creatine.
I've got this confusion aswell with regards my P.W. shake, should the combined cals of a creatine/protein blend be subtracted from my P.W. Meal??

Thanks for any replies, trying to really make a go of this and I'd just like to make sure I'm not going wrong anywhere,

    Damien

Mate, I'm pretty sure you are not taking creatine, more than likely whey protein, either way, that and the fact that you use "creatine/protein" as if there were some correlation between them says to me that you should really pay more attention to what you are putting into your body.

To answer your question, if you eat 70g of carbs from oats and then a shake with 30g of carbs then yes you have just ingested 100g of carbs.

Without actually knowing what the OP is taking I'd say it's more likely that he's taking some creatine compound than a protein supplement. Most protein supps don't have 30g of carbs per serving. The weight gainers might, but the carbs they contain is usually much more...

Nutrition X's CellX has 25g of carbs per seving and 5g of creatine monohydrate. It's probably more liekly that hes taking something like CellX or Maximuscle's Cyclone then protein if he's giving us an accurate description

And to the OP, yes, the 30g of carbs you're ingesting with the creatine is added on to your oats to make 100g. The carbs that come in those creatine compound supplements are normally mostly sugar since it causes a greater insulin response and gets the creatine to the muscles faster. So just be aware you're probably taking in a lot of sugar with it too. Which obviously isn't always good.

Yes, you're right actually, good point.

Either way, my point stands that he should be more aware of what he is putting into his body.

sorry about the confusion, when I write creatine/protein I mean a creatine shake and a protein shake. Anyway's the confusion has been cleared up, thanks a lot

edit: Just had a look and the creatine is in fact CellX, protein is just normal optimum whey. Thanks again

You probably taking a creatine/dextrose mix.Dextrose is added to creatine to help shuttle the creatine into the muscles faster after an intense workout. The reason this happens is because dextrose is a very high glycemic sugar probably the highest and what this does is raise insulin levels and shutles the creatine and whey if added into the hungry muscles fast
