Is there any cheating online these days ?

The reason i ask is.. I used to play ladders online years ago when Rogue spear was just out and really big.. I loved playing Covert Ops.. even got to rank 1 on the ladder... then the Cheats started to come out and I lost all interest in it.. As you can tell from the Games i've quoted it's been some years since i've played online.. But now i've decided to try it again.. And now i see this thing called Punk buster.. what is it ? does it work..

I see most games have it,, well the 2 i've started playing COD4 and Crysis.. Is there still cheating out there? like AA (auto aim) cheat AA... all map.. stuff that ruined the good ola days of gaming..

Remember the days of 'The Zone' on MSN i used to me a Sysops (have a + infront of my name ) and also i used to work for Clan ladder as an Admin.. So i've been around ,I'm sure others have been here longer... But when the guys started using the cheats I left cos it was Sh!t..

So whats going on these days.. Does Punkbuster work

Yes it does, thankfully. AFAIK there is zero cheating in COD.

There is cheating in CoD I'm afraid to report. The most common cheat used is wallhacking. Auto Aim I've never come accross while playing CoD. Wallhacking is sneaky and hard to prove unless you have PB screenshots to support your claims...

PB has helped reduce cheating but I don't think it will ever be eradicated completely.

But give online gaming another try! Cheating is a factor but it doesn't take away from the enjoyment as the large majority of players are clean.

i was playing it on the ps3 and i was on the marine side and friendly fire was off,but i was killed by a player that was wearing a marine outfit,could it be cheating?

Only seen one person using an aimbot so far think ive seen a few using wallhacks but its hard to tell sometimes. But yeah theres still lots of hackers you just have to try your best to catch them

weve got caught two irish hackers "majorstone" and "Bucketface21" on our server "irish e-sports no.1" - hacking is a HUGE problem in all call of duty games - especially one as new as cod4 is
we globally ban at least 3 hackers a day from our server too

There is loads of cheating on COD4 i know a clan with three servers and now have around 40 threads full of banned names, as far as i know there's isn't cheating on consoles but on cod4 and cod2 on pc it is full of it, i've see mainly wallhacks mixed with very bad aimbots.

I was playing on a hardcore server the other night and a guy managed 130+ kills 8 deaths in a 1st to 5 match , considering the next best was 32 kills it kinda got me wondering...:rolleyes:

This is the problem though, because there are a fair amount of people cheating you don't know if people are good, or just cheats. See i got 106 kills for 8 deaths and get around the same sometimes, he could of just had a lucky night as I did a few times, not saying you're wrong he could off been cheating, but now people just assume if you're doing good you cheat, which at fist is a nice feeling because it means you've done good enough that people think you're as good as a aimbot but it gets annoying.

I was in one game where someone got 900 and the next best was about 400 with an average of 300 or so. The guy with 900 dies about 10 times. What I also notice in some games is endless airstrikes and helo's. Once that starts the game is over. Also people being able to shoot you even though you've spawned in cover. If you look at the kill replay they can see you but yet seem to know where you are. Or killing people and they seem to spawn right beside you almost immediately.

Usually if you avoid being killed because you are camping/sniping you're not going to kill that many.

There are many many hackers online and quite frankly they make me sick. Everyone should have their servers streaming to both PB bans and Punksbusted. If anyone wants help setting up their server to do this I will be more then happy to run them through it .

Just an FYI on the kill cam. It can replay things slightly differently to how they happened. So sometimes it will be the case where it looks like a guy is hacking but he actually is not.

Private servers seem to be grand. Only came across maybe three proper hackers in my 20 or so hours of play. Punkbuster works surprisingly well.

Came across another last night something like 1100 kills in one game where about 300 was about the highest across the other players. He wasn't a good player either as you could kill him easily. But he was getting lots of kills and you could never see him when he killed you. Loads of Helo's and airstrikes. Lots of one shot kills and you'd never see from where.

You can tell pretty easily when someone good or cheating. tbh. You'll see a really good player moving around a lot on the map, you'll see them a lot, he'll get a lot of knife kills, and will be moving and ducking a lot. He'll also generally move with a couple of others, covering each other. You generally won't kill them unless you are very accurate. You'll also need to put a lots of rounds into them. So I find the faster firing weapons the best, and fast reloads. Also stay light as you need to move fast.

I play mainly on public servers and theres a lot of cheating. Especially in the games with lots of players, so avoid them. Its put me off the game now tbh. I could imagine private games is the best route to avoid the cheating. I've seen Punkbuster kick a lot of people alright.

I was playing it there last night and some lad kept using the wall cheat. It really does ruin the game. I don't know why people do it, it's not as if they're getting anything in return for it.

You'll know within 5 or 10 mins when someone is cheating. You just have to leave. No point in playing in games like that. If someones good and keeps wiping you out, after a bit of play, its great satisfaction getting a couple of kills on them back. Even if you are losing overall, thats still fun. But getting killed 5 times in a row when you spawn is just boring.

Theyre rife in COD4

We had one join my clan, and get caught...banned straight away obviously , but sad to see.

There are many ways to bypass Punkbuster as nothing is 100% secure

I dont see the enjoyment they get out of it though

If I had an unfair advantage on somebody in any area, not just online gaming, I wouldn't feel good about being better than that person. Where's the pride in that?

If you're a n00b at online gaming, just practice. That's the whole point! You practice hard, you get better and then when you play good and kick some a$$ you feel really good about it! To me that's the whole point anyway...

While I have no doubt that cheating does indeed go on in COD4, there is also the fact that there are some people who are that good (I'm not one of them). I've been accused of hacking numerous times in UO (mostly by idiots admitedly, but the point is relevant), and I know that it would be easy to be suspicious of my brother in COD4 as he is very good and I frequently die without seeing him and knowing where it came from etc. Someone having a much greater than average score is by no means indication that they are cheating - I've even managed it myself the odd time.

I have also caught people cheating on our server (spectating people with wallhacks is mildly amusing), so I know it does happen, but I wouldn't call it endemic or anything.

Very true about people who are just good, a quick look at the deathcam or just spec them and you'll soon be able to tell a good player apart from a hacker.

I'm fairly new to the game and playing online so not so hot,I have noticed on a few occasions though the near impossibilty to kill some players.I use an M5 mostly,and I do realise that some players to put it midley are sh*t hot, but when you pump a cartridge into them and they still keep coming somethings wrong. I also relise that extra life can be earned,I use it myself,but just how many body shots should kill a player?

I hate that "extra health" perk. I consider it cheating! I used to play with the M4 with silencer but I had to drop the silencer as I could never kill these fookers with that stupid perk! Like you, I was emptying full cartridges yet most times they survived, especially if they were a bit far. It's much better now without the silencer but I still think that perk is cr@p... :mad:

Did nothing look weird to you there? Seriously?

The guy is looking at the house to his right. Then he shoots. The first bullet goes straight to the house, the second bullet kills the guy that's lying down next to him. It's impossible to change your aim like that between 2 bullets. The change of direction probably took one hundred of a second. Definitely a "second bullet aimbot" involved...

if you look at the slow motion part you'll see that the hit blip comes up before he even looks at the guy on the floor, meaning his aimbot has spun down and shot before the server has time to react.
