So who has this fun little time-occupier to do...I have finally buckled down and started (ish...)

In the library today copying down Tables of Contents and flicking through to see what I have to put in each section...Have my notes together - think I am good to go!

I remember I had those same intentions when I was embarking on my Co-Op.

However, I did my Co-op just as Youtube was beginning to take off on the internet so those intentions were quickly dispelled.

3 weeks after the exams, that's where it's won or lost!

I started mine a good while ago. Have gotten feck all done though. All of the next two weeks will be spent in a lab inhaling toxic, carcinogenic chemicals :eek:

FY.. POooo more like mad how many fourth years are back across all discipline.. funny how business dont undersand how other courses cant complete theres in just 3 weeks.. so much fun to be had between now nad the 28th laughin and annoyin business students who have such a near deadline.. thankfully mine aint due till April sometime... but bring on the beer the day they finish....

I managed to get my FYP done in the three weeks between the January exams and the second semester back in the halcyon days of post-Christmas exams. Managed to get a legend of a supervisor who told me my grade prior to embarking on the epic FYP task purely based on my title. Met him only once. The product of my endeavours hasn't seen the light of day since then either.

i think ive met one person who had theres started during co-op and thats only cause he was based in ul for co-op . is a nerd adn was using stuf he'd done in a previous project for his fyp...

i lied with a girl who planned to start in april.. i laughed and she didnt end up startin till september..

the library is fun laughin at business students at the min

I'm one of the business students. Bout 2k words done at the minute, due in 11 days. I'm doing Marketing though so the title of mine is "The success or otherwise of Sony's Playstation 3 brand in it's first 14 months in the market". I lol at accounting students.

Take out the apostrophe from the "it's" in your title. "Its" meaning possessive doesn't take an apostrophe; it'd piss off any supervisor from the title page, not something you wanna do!

But it wasn't off topic! It was completely relevant and pertaining to the subject of FYP!

To be fair, fascism is such a specific ideology (even these days where it's used as an epithet) that it's probably misused there too, even when spelled with a lowercase 'f'.

Strictly speaking, I don't think punctuation comes under the umbrella of grammar anyway. Completely different areas in which one can be pedantic. I often find myself overlapping between the two, however; sort of like being in the intersection in a Venn diagram...:rolleyes:

God I hate this thing...Thought it would flow nicer than it is - 5,000 words through, not too bad I suppose. There will be plenty of editing to do though (and if current words per section is anything to go by, plenty of padding!).

I now severely dislike the format you have to submit it in - Double spacing...I feel as though I have loads done because my page count is at 25 but yet my words are falling well short of the mark.

I envy those new Business people who can elect not to do an FYP (I wonder how they are pitching that sale!)

no word count for me either but cooper if you were given a max length like i was you probably will be writing as much as a business student

i have to complete some software or hardware and a report of max 50 pages with double spacing .. one of the girls in business has just over 50 pages with 11,000 words at the minute...

so its poo..

im on day 3 of not having touched my FYP... i will start working on it again any minute just waiting for some enlightment from somewhere any time now

Those Business students currently in first year!
They get to choose whether or not they do an FYP.
AFAIK it applies to all first years, but i could be wrong there now. It definitely applies to Business.

And Nutty I was'nt given a max page length instead the guideline is "approximately 50 pages of main text, excluding appendices". So I have lots of work to do, I think I already bitched on this thread about having started a few months ago and still not managed to get too far:(

I know the new BA in New Media and Journalism (starting September 2008) doesn't have an FYP either. Instead in fourth year they will have to prepare a portfolio of their work and do a report on that portfolio that'll be c.5-6,000 words, afaik. Feckers. That is very useful and relevant tbh and will serve them well going into the job market. Much more productive than a smelly 10,000 word FYP on some godforsaken topic.

Gave up for the day!

New timetable looks...ok. Too many early starts for my liking and it's a reversal on last semester - loads of breaks / long breaks in the days. Monday off is quite nice!

9 days is loads of time! (I'm convincing myself as much as anyone with that one...) - Results are officially out Wednesday as far as I know; thought I was getting them earlier today - was able to get through log-in and 2nd screen...then it came up with the error.

No letter though so no Economics repeat for me!!!

That normally means it's true cause the server crashes as soon as the results come out every year!

I don't think I have a supervisor any more. He got a new job. I got an automatic 'out-of-office' reply when I sent a very worried email re: same to him on Friday. It said he won't be around til the 28th. I've heard too many rumours that he's dumping his FYP students though.

Im calling in and out to my supervisor the whole time. Its a very good idea to stay in contact (without becoming annoying:D) because as was mentioned already he's the one who corrects it

Have taken the plunge and e-mailed the supervisor for a last minute check of the direction I have taken...Has to be spot on at this stage!

Tried to phrase the e-mail as close to "I am nearly done but want to meet with you so I don't get my grade slated" as possible!

My supervisor left campus two weeks ago and has been unavailable since. She offered to meet me Monday morning at 11am.......cheers.

Just did an all nighter for it there and still not finished! Bloody FYP!!
