can you take the cash instead of ticket?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,887 ✭✭✭Marq

    I'll find out.

because you already have a ticket? and 4.5k in cash in nice for 200 outlay.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,887 ✭✭✭Marq

if you already had a ticket you could definitely take the cash. I'll find out about otherwise.

    Is there any tickets guaranteed?

Very tempting Marq! I for one hope that you can't take a cash alternative unless you already have one obviously.

its better to let people take the cash, it increase the number of players, which increases the tickets which gives better players a better chance to win a ticket cheaply.

    So the more the merrier.

I 100% agree with that Ollie and its not even debatable but I know I won't play the Irish Open if I can take cash for my ticket (in the highly unlikely event that I win one) but if I had to play  well its a different story.

I guess I like the fact that online sats aren't exchangeable for cash but I don't play very much online...

I'd imagine that since there are no guaranteed tickets there will be cash alternatives, which is a pity I think as I know most people would keep the money.

I'm back in work tomorrow. I'll discuss with Denise whether or not we can guarantee the ticket and also whether players can take the cash as an alternative. My best guess is that we will be able to guarantee the ticket, and my preference would be that tickets are not transferable for cash unless you already have an IO ticket.
But I don't want to make any definitive statements yet...

Marq if the ticket is guaranteed....I should be in to play on thurs.

I'll play this myself if i decide to go down to Connies Friday instead of Thursday. I'd prefer no cash alternative aswel. Say there's 2 tickets up for grabs and 6 left, you'll get some bright spark e.g Tommy suggesting we all take the money and split it 6 ways or whatever. You could be the only 1 that wants to play for a ticket and the other 5 want cash, so all of a sudden you're the Big Bad Wolf who refuses because you want a ticket.

Talk about painting a target on your back and rubbing the players up the wrong way. I wouldnt like to be a spot either that NFR was in where he had to pay people off to get the ticket (world series i know but same difference). I'd like to go in knowing i'll pat €200 and have a shot at a ticket or get nothing.

Couldn't agree more with this. It happened far too much last year. If people don't want the ticket they shouldn't play. If there's a cash alternative I wouldn't play.

Any chance of one happening the 17th?
Just happen to be in Dublin for night.

If not what's the normal Thursday game?

1 Ticket will be guaranteed at tomorrow evening's satellite.
The ticket is not exchangeable for cash unless you already have a ticket to the Irish Open.

Nice to see that the ticket is Guaranteed. Saying that you can only exchange it for cash if you have a ticket is pointless- cause lets face it how is anyone going to prove that they have a ticket.

I would also agree with Flushdraw that no cash for the ticket should be given out.

Also, if you already have a ticket - then why bother playing.

Just home from this, I'm pretty sick tbh.

I went HU with a 5/1 lead, first hand he shoves A4, I've 10 10, he doubles up. Small ball stuff then for a couple of levels until I call his turn shove with 17 outs and miss all. That gave him over a 2/1 lead, I clawed back a little, but alas no. Next time.

1k is a consolation, but still pissed off.

    Great game btw, excellent structure.

  • Subscribers Posts: 32,864 ✭✭✭✭5starpool

Jude won a sat last year as well in the Fitz. Rigged.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,870 ✭✭✭rx8

What !! You didn't get the ticket? Gutted for you!
I still don't know how I let Jude off the hook when I folded 9 9 after he called Bernie's all-in. He tabled 8 8. Had nightmares about it!
You must have had 60% of the chips in play when you got me with a very well played set of Kings.I thought that the standard of play was pretty poor in general though.

    Hard luck again though.

    Martin

Think the 31st is when the EOM is on in the fitz(270) - very good tournament - just think you could play and win that and use it to buy into the IO and still have change..

Our next Irish Open Satellite is tonight starting at half eight.
    ONE TICKET GUARANTEED.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,887 ✭✭✭Marq

Thomas "Bomber" Nolan won his ticket at the Fitz tonight.

Standard enough stuff: 3-handed Bomber calls 20k preflop and shoves a KQJ flop with 47o. His opponent calls with AK. Turn 4, River 7.

Never in doubt Tommy, well done.

    Well done last night Tom.

You played strong poker all night. I noted how you got maximum value from
your strong hands on our first table (something I need to work on)

I havent played with Denis either in a while and he played two hands particularly well. (again more strategy to improve my own game)

Anyway best of luck in the main event!

Dear sir, I'd like to add to your prize pool, if I should happen to win this ticket may I take the equvalent in Euros or must I create an ebay account and sell my wares?

my attendance depends on your anwser to this question, and nice wastcoat you got on there sir. ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,887 ✭✭✭Marq

Willy as I understand it you already have a ticket? In that you are already registered and paid up to paddy power for the event? If so you can most certainly have the cash should you win.

Bear in mind for anyone that wants to play this for the cash alone: we are obliged to check with Paddy Power that you are already a paid up registrant before we can dole out the dough. that is the only situation where we can give you the cash directly. Tickets are transferable however, meaning that you can sell them on and we will simply put the buyer's name forward to Paddy Power.

    50 players, 40 rebuys = 2 tickets.

    1 guaranteed as always.
