detoxing options

Like lots of us I am busy trying to detox this month! Regardless of the time of year I already do the basic stuff - at least two litres of water daily, lots of veg, a good bit of fruit although I don't particularly like it, I don't smoke, have only the occasional glass of wine and get lots of sleep. I would just like to give myself an extra push for the start of the year. I have heard about 'Toxic Twins' which (I think!) are little pads that you put on your feet at night to draw out toxins. I know Boots also do detox packs and am wondering what they are like? I just feel a bit sluggish and would like to give my body a boost for the new year. If you could give me any advice or suggestions about good options for detoxing I would really be grateful. Thanks in advance!

Best advice, stop trying to look for a quick fix. It's usually the longest way to achieve something!

If you're eating veg & fruit and drinking lots of water you're doing a great job thusfar. Now, let's look at what toxins you're putting into your body.

Can you post your typical diet for critique?

Are you exercising and a high intensity? If not, this could explain the sluggish feeling. Even if you are exercising, it mightn't be the most productive. Post that as well, please.

Finally, the sluggish feeling could be a result of SAD or maybe it's just that time of year. Everyone else is feeling sluggish and humans are pretty social creatures so we pick up on the group mood.

    Hi,

January is not the best time of the year to detox, and since you already seem to have healthy eating habits why not wait until springtime? Nature and old traditions seem to indicate that spring is a better period, just look at the natural remedies around in springtime - just think of the tradition to eat nettle soup in the spring, and even the spring-cleaning - and in religious traditions lent is in reality a time of detox, similar traditions are present in other religions.

I personally tried a sample of the patches you're talking about once, and they do seem to absorb something, but never found any real proof that they work - a sauna would probably have a similar effect. Our body has a natural ability to eliminate what it considers toxic for itself, and I personally think that supplement industry is not different in its aim from all the other industries, namely making profit, so if you can go with nature and save money... just wait a month or so and then go and pick up nettles and dandelion leaves!
