    Getting hints of sleet in the very heavy rain here at the moment.

    I had the misfortune of driving through it a few hours ago. Many main mountain routes are virtually impassable now with 2-3 inches of snow that fell in the space of about 2 hours, most of it reserved over high ground of above about 600ft.

    The Glenshane Pass (A6 over the Sperrins) was gritted at about 1700 Sunday, but subsequent heavy rain probably washed most of it away as the snow only started falling heavily after 2000hrs.
