Well if you could bring back one tv show, with original cast, writers ect, regardless of little incovieniences like some of them being dead ect, what would it be.

For me I think it would have to be either the cartoon Ulysses (remember that anyone?) or Fr. Ted.

*edit* Found a clip, and my new ring tone, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgJ4qYP44Rk

This pisses me off, i dont think its better than firefly but i did love SAAB and from reading up on it it crashed and burned in the US and was popular in eurpe but im guessing because 15 years ago international media was different and vhs sales where nothing compared to what DVD sales are now so if a show was not popular and watched when it was aired it got the axe. I really liked the show and i love (i think its episode 16) the one where the commander
    goes after the "chig ace"
im also a fan of the last episode. Has anyone considered a ramke of SAAB? its been 15 years and it only grwows more popular the more people that see it. They have the chigs the Tanks and the AI and humans, loads of storys they can do.

On another note i finished watching arrested develeopment last weekend. Very good show,

other shows of note that should not have been cancelled are

    John Doe

Enterprise *waits for abuse* i dont care even people who hated it said season 4 was on the right track.

V was the only television show that really spoke to me.

Well the original mini-series was great... the stuff that came after was a little bit naff.

Kenneth Johnson who made the original V is still trying to get a follow up mini-series off the ground that will take place 20 years after the original mini-series and ignore all the other guff... awesome...

He's having trouble getting it off the ground, but I believe he has a book based on his concepts for The Second Generation out now... must pick it up.

V was the only television show that really spoke to me.

Based on that i think ill watch it.

    1983 huh?
Says it ran for 3 seasons? Should give me a bit of entertainment as i wait for this writers strike to end.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

Oh don't mind him... he gets carried away with anything to do with lizards.

I did watch V recently enough and the original mini-series has held up well. It would be hard to see it work in the current political climate though. The whole show was an allegory for WWII and as such the good guys are essentially terrorists. But if Battlestar Galactica can get away with it.. why not V...?

As for me... I'd love to see Farscape back.. man I loved that show.

oh and user45701- don't expect to be amazed...i recently watched it again adn realised how bad the effects were :p

    what a show!!

i always wanted to be Donovan- minus the big nose...

Too bad it veered off the track and went into a ditch at the end.

But overall season 3 and 4 were very good. Stupid people just couldn't seem to their heads around the fact that the show had a theme song and wouldn't give it a chance.

Thats true, i know one person who refused to watch it because of the intro then one day i convinced him to watch "In a mirror darkley" and he liked it then over thenext few motnhs he must have seen most of the enterpise episodes.

I know 1 person (different person) who wont watch BSG because they say Frack, he hates it when they say that.

Pigman- I also loved Undergrads[was on tg4 a few years back]. There was talk of it returning, but it has died down recently. Check out the myspace of the creator for info.

Has to be Firefly as well for me-a joke that it only got 13 eps[ok, and a great movie :D]

There was meant to be a porn tape featuring screech floating around. I seen him on Celebrity Fit Club not too long ago when flicking through channels. He has been selling t-shirts to pay for his house, apparently in a lot of financial trouble.

There are a number of shows I would love to return, Going round the Twist would be up there for the quirkyness. :)

There will be a Freaks and Geeks Movie in 2009 AFAIK.

Only one of the cast remains and that is Samm Levine as Neal Schwiber. He will be playing the same part and the story will continue from the last episode. He is about 25 now playing a 15 year old!!!! Kind of goes againist what Freaks and Geeks was all about!!!!!

Debut in 1999, nearly 10 years. Time Flies.
is screech in porn now or is that just a rumour??

One of the girls was in Showgirls and Any Given Sunday, near enough to porn at least for her character in Any Given Sunday.

I think what makes many of these shows good is because they only lasted 1 or 2 seasons (Bar Saved by the Bell!)

    QFE

Cut short in its prime IMO, the Peacekeeper Wars while tying up some loose ends just didn't ring true the way the rest of the series did.

Drama-wise, Oz could have ran and ran as well, wouldn't mind if that came back, although with the way they finished up it might be a bit of Bobby Ewing job.

Comedy-wise, would have to be Fr. Ted or perhaps Fawlty Towers, both cut criminally short....although the relatively small no. of episodes may be what sets them apart, quality above qunatity and all...

    Animation-wise, The Critic! Quality.

OP mentioned Ulysses31; the only cartoon/animé I will confess to owning and watching...

    Only fools was legendary.

The awful back for the last time trilogy around 2000-2003 is proof good shows that are retired by their writer shouldnt be harassed into coming back. Two of the episodes were ok enough, the 3rd was brutal.

The original black and white Twilight Zone, it was hit/miss but the good ones were worth it.
    B5
    Farside
Futurama - are they doing new episodes ?

But it can happen look at Dr Who - took them bleedin ages - even Sylvester McCoy and zero budget could not kill it.

Space above and beyond - carrier war in the pacific 'cos you can be racist to chiggs but not to japs, still nice to see the good old M113 will still be in the front line.

You know Sylverster McCoy and some of the writers wanted to move in a darker direction with Dr Who, like it is now, but were hamstrung by production?

    Funfact for the week.
