Intensity = Calorie Intake?????

    Ok here's something I had a talk about recently. Say you have two guys both the same height, same weight same bodyfat, similar lifestyles etc, Guy A can bench 60k, squat 80k, deadlift 100k all for 1rm. Guy B can bench 100k, squat 120k, deadlift 150k all for 1rm.

    Now if they were to both do the exact same workouts ie 3x8 @80% 1rm would they both have the same calorie intake or would Guy B have a greater requirement even though technically they're both working at the same intensity with the same rest periods.

    On one hand you have:

    Guy A lifting 3-8@50, 3-8@65, 3-8@80
    Guy B lifting 3-8@80, 3_8@95, 3-8@120

    Obviously there is pro lifters who eat like mad but they tend to lift like mad so I'm not counting these in the discussion. I'm aiming it at your normal Joe who does the 9-5 thing and hits the gym a few times a week to keep in shape.

    No, guy b would be doing more work. In physics work = Force by distance, and is measured in Joules (proportional to cals). So if a guy is lifting a heavier weight he is using more force, therefore burning more cals.

    Simple physics really :D

    The guy who busts his ass when he works out trains his body to burn more calories, even when he's sitting in front of the tv.

    For a long time, doctors were trying to find the magic hormone (leptin?) that will make fat people thinner. Turns out fat people have more leptin than fit people, but their bodies aren't as good at using it.
