They say the most you can lose is 2lbs a week, has anyone ever done it though & how did you do it?

    Yeah, I have.

I used to be 14 stone - mostly muscle.

I stopped going to the gym for one month and returned my diet to normal. Lost over a stone.

of course you can lose a stone in 7 weeks. You can lose a stone in 7 days if you really want to but it's not very likely to be healthy weight loss.

Why do you ask? In other words, give me a good reason not to lock this because it has train wreck written all over it...

Weightwatchers is the best by far, you can still eat and drink what you want but it's all about moderation and training yourself - remember you won't lose weight overnight but you didn't put it on overnight either.

I lost two stone in two months last year. I went down to about 6% bodyfat.
I did it by cutting calories, staying hungry and training 20+ hours a week.

It was a f*cking terrible idea and I spent most of the season injured and watching other people race.

I had little fat but also little muscle mass and even being as skinny as a rake had no real visible abs.

Do it slowly, do it properly.

Some boxers could exert 14lb less force on a weighing scale after a few days. I can exert 6-7lb more force on a scale in 1-2hours, so in effect if I weighed myself the next day I could lose that. 4 pints of water is 6.2lb, easily lost or gained

I mention force as that what a scale is weighing, it is no measure of fat loss or gain. I would recommend heavy weight training as a great way to lose fat, but a fairly poor way to lose weight, as you will gain weight in the form of muscle.

I'd go with a holiday or a dress. Leaning more towards the dress for some reason though.

and to the OP yes it can be done, but chances are you will put it all back on and more unless you are very careful and know exactly know what you are doing (but seen as though you are asking this question I doubt you do).

Truthfully just start eating properly and exercising and see what you do lose

A stone in 7 weeks is 2lbs per week - by no means ridiculously fast weight loss I would have thought? Up the exercise and clean up the diet and it's very doable

Yes... I lost 2 stone in 8 weeks, quite healthily. I guess there was a lot of water in there too, but mostly fat. I cut out bad food, reduced the amount of carby food, increased green veg and lean meat, did a lot of exercise (weights and cardio) every day, drank a lot of water. It was very easy for me because I had a lot of weight to lose to begin with. If you already have a reasonably healthy lifestyle then you'll probably find it harder to lose a stone.

Yeah I lost weight quickly before but wouldn't recommend it at all.
For almost everyone it comes back on just as quick.

I'm giving myself almost 12 weeks to lose a stone now. Thats about right. If I mess up a day or two it shouldn't matter. I will still get there.

What height & weight were you?

Did you calculate your calorie intake per day at all?

    atkins diet

My brother, a kidney expert, claims the atkins diet is very bad for your kidneys... so I would stay away from this one!

Yes its totally possible. I have done it about twice a year for the past 4 years or so!! I've done it by going to weightwatchers and sticking to the points, have lost a stone in about 4 or weeks each time.

Then the minute I start eating like a normal person again it just piles back on and I start again. Very very unhealthy. Now Im planning to lose about 2 stone at a pound a week over the next few months, not going anywhere near weightwatchers, just going to gym and not pigging out so much

Matt Kroczaleski's drops over 40lbs in 24 hours. Of course he puts back on about 45lb in hte next 48hrs but that's neihther here nor there...

There's no "max" limit to what you can lose. But generally unless you're carrying ALOT of fat, the most you'll lose without losing muscle is 2lb. It's a useful guide if nothing else.

Its possible. I'm 6'4 and about 5 years ago I lost 4 1/2 stone. The first 1.5 stone came off in a month - it was mostly water, I guess. It also helped that I was 20 st to start with!!

Problem is I put most of the weight on again after a couple of years. Now I'm back down again without scales-watching. Changing your routine with exercise is the key. My advice is to simply moderate your intake and maybe weigh in every month. Also, you'll find it hard to build mass if you're starving yourself.

    Best of luck dude!

The missus did exactly that last autumn. 1 stone in 6/7 weeks. She was aiming for two, but she dropped loads in the first few weeks and it gradually slowed down from there. Not too difficult - 40% protein, 35% fat, 25% carbs; 6 meals a day; regular low-intensity cardio; some resistance training; sleep... (and she drank too much most of the time but still had great progress.)

Hi - I lost 3 stone over a 5 month period. Went from 16.5 st to 13.5 st. All done very sensibily and with the help of Motivation Weight Loss Clinic.

2.5 stone fat, remainder was water and no muscle loss due to ensuring I ate enough protein while maintaining low fat and low carbs. Exercise wasn't a huge part - but that doesn't mean I didn't exercise - walked more, climbed stairs instead of taking lift, bike riding etc.

My BMI went from 32 to 26.5. Still have a bit to go but if I can do it anyone can. Exercise is a lot easier now due to being 3 stone lighter. Always thought I had a slow metabolism. Load of bollix - I was just eating ****!

I lost 3 stone in about 6 weeks (from 12 to 9) but it was due to a medical condition.
