On January 19th, we are holding a €20 freezeout in aid of charity. There will be a guaranteed prizepool of $5,000* (3,449.17 EUR at today’s conversion rate) courtesy of Bodog!

All players that want to take part in the live tourney must register for the online one, which costs $1 to enter. All prizes will be paid into the players Bodog account.

Players must register at www.bodoglife.co.uk and should write DITPoker in the field marked ‘How did you hear about us’ on the registration form.

The online tournament is being created and will be located under the ‘Scheduled Tournaments’ tab within the ‘daily’, ‘private’ section. It will be called DITPoker Exclusive.

Just to clarify... There are two tournaments, an offline and an online one.

Both tournaments have $5,000 dollars guaranteed.

Everyone has to register for the online one which is a $1, then everyone that registers for that is automatically registered for the offline tournament which will be a €20 freezeout and money will be taken on the day.

Once the offline tournament is over, all the players will already be registered for the online tournament on Bodog, 20th of January and have a go at another $5,000 guaranteed prizepool!

Blind structure and location to be confirmed. Also a huge thanks to Stephen McClean for coming aboard and taking over the role as TD.

Registration requires a password, PM me all those that are interested in this tournament and I will send on the password.

    All suggestions/questions/comments welcome.

€1500 will be going to charity, but will not effect the guaranteed prizepool!

    Thanks,
    DIT Poker Soc Aungier St.

    * subject to a 100 players.

If we don't make 100 players its unlikely that money will be added, but thats all up to Bodog. Get registering and this wont be a problem at all!!

Steve, hold tight as it's early days yet. The majority of people who'll be going to your tournament will probably decide nearer the time, probably within 48 hours of the tournament starting.

I've got 5 people from WIT confirmed so far, and that's only through word of mouth. I'll be sending texts to everyone asap.

Now worst case scenerio, 75 people show up. I hope you won't be giving €1500 to charity in that case!

Yeah your probably right, but with the rep coming from England it'd look better if we got the 100 players early on.

Cheers for passing on the info. If theres less than 100 players and no added money we won't be taking any money out for charity...

This is a poker board, not a gossip forum for u and the pack of girls :p

Back on topic... Many of you don't have credit/laser cards, so I emailed Bodog and hope to get a list of alternatives posted here over the next couple of days.

If anyone has trouble registering or wants the password just PM me.

Stephen McClean will be taking over as TD for the day, so I'll let him do it whatever way he's sees fit...

In my view, dead stacks should be taken out after the first level and late entries during the first level only.

I've sent out texts to all 174 of our members letting them know about the event and asking them to get back to me if they're interested. Unfortunately, because the event isn't during term time (our lectures restart on the 21st), we can't apply for any funding for travel or accommodation from the college so everyone will have to arrange that themselves. The €20 Freezeout could turn into an expensive €100+ trip for many!

Needless to say, I've assembled my own small team of degenerates who can't wait to play. I'll sort out getting them all signed up before the weekend is out!

stephen, or stephen... what have you planned in the way of side action? stt? micro cash?

SERIOUS SUGGESTION: do a deal with the jackpot for last two tables/last table to be played there.

at current structure this will not finish on time, bearing in mind the college is 100% closed, locked up, empty NO LATER than 10pm, and thats during the week when the lib is open til 9pm. on a saturday the lib closes at 5pm or 6pm, cant imagine the college is open past 6. evening courses during the week dictate it staying open, i'd definately check college closing times for that saturday.

Already have it sorted a while ago Jeff! I think we're closing up the action on the first day at 9pm. Then off to the Jackpot on Sunday where the remaining players can use all the facilities and have dealer dealt tables!

what i find so funny about this game is that i am very sure that about 10 boardsies at least will go and play the emporium game on saturday for €100 for a chance to win a share of €3,500... but wouldnt dare enter A STUDENT game that is open to everyone, for the price of €20 + $1 for a chance to €3,500 and $5,000!!! >:(

Pretty poor so far to be honest! Hopefully that will change... :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,512 ✭✭✭stevire

    MAJOR CHANGES:

I've been talking to Duke in the Jackpot and he has kindly agreed to let us use the Jackpot on Saturday.

The tournament will now be run in the Jackpot and its looking like a 6 o clock start (subject to change).

Because of the smaller area, the live tournament will be capped at 110 players.

The online tournament has no cap.

We're staying in the Tower Hotel in Tallaght. 5 minute walk from the LUAS and it's my understanding that Dublin Bus run a NiteLink service out there every 30mins until 4am?

Out of curiousity, how much would a taxi cost out to Tallaght?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,472 ✭✭✭AdMMM

Oh and does this mean that there'll be dealers at the tournament?

Hey Adam, yeah there's a Nitelink going out there until 4.30. If your getting a taxi just say your going to the Square, and it should cost no more than €25..

Oh and does this mean that there'll be dealers at the tournament?

Unconfirmed, depends on how many runners..
