Does burning crispy pancakes make them more nutritious?

In the last three months i have dropped from 124kg to 105kg. Im 5ft9 and that hasnt changed. My goal is too reach 6ft and 90kg (im not in a hurry). Please note i hate fish and all types of seafood, cooked eggs and i also hate all white sauces (carbonara looks like semen). Crisps were my big downfall. I am an Accountant so i sit on my arse all day and rip people off, i rarely get up from my desk other than to get water. I walk the dog for about an hour every night and we run on the beaches on the weekends. I train in Martial Arts for 10 hours (3 hour squad training is very vigourous and 2 hour sparring and rolling is vigourous, the other 5 hours is light work), i also do two weight sessions a week and a spin class (very addictive stuff) if i have time.

My current daily diet looks like this:

7am: Ready Brek with Bananas (dont call it porridge cause porridge disgusts me too), if im too lazy or late out of bed i will just have All Bran or Fruit and Fibre and a yogurt.

10am: Toasted Wholemeal Bread with Jam and Sliced Banana.

1pm: Pasta (sometimes rice) with Chicken or turkey breast, red peppers/ green peppers /onions some spinach. Mostly spicey tomato sauces with extra Red Chilli's for some kick.

4pm: Banana or Apple or Yogurt (quick snack if im hungry)

7pm ish: Small Meal! More meat and veg than rice/pasta/potatoes

10pm / 11pm: If i am hungry ill have chilli beans on toast.

So my questions: Should i be eating more in the morning and less in the evening or perhaps even out the food intake more during the day? My RMR works out at 3800 but i am not eating anywhere near that. Will this cause any problems? Am i a fussy eater? What am i missing by not eating fish or eggs? Can i substitute fish and eggs in my diet with cheese and what else? What are high GI foods? I used to play poker all night but now play alot less, how does lack of sleep impact on my body performace(am i a Ferrarri on top but a Lada underneath)?

Do you mind if I ask how you expect to grow 3 inches? As an accountant, I'm guessing you're not 15 years old... Regarding the diet - if you want to lose 15kg then the best thing to do is replace most of that bread/pasta/spuds with lean meat and green veg. Most of your questions have already had loads of discussion and can be found by Googling or searching this board. My advice is the best thing you could accomplish over the next few months is to get over your childish disgust for certain types of food.

There are serious questions in there. I have tried to disguise them by using some self deprecating humour which seems lost of some people. I mean is 6ft achievable, of course it is but only if i am willing to have my legs broken and stretched (ill probably be afraid of height if i ever reach 6ft anyway), but the diets questions are serious!

True! but there's not too many ex 20 stone 5 ft 9" accountants around. He's making an effort which is good.

Your diet doesn't look great to me --- there's too many important foods like milk, eggs, fish, vegetables etc. left out. Have you worked out how many calories you're taking in a day? Because your food intake seems very low!

Thats what i thought when i wrote it down but i dont go hungry. I have milk with breakfeast and sometime a glass in the evenings. As for veg i use loads of peppers and mushrooms and spinach and crop choi with lunch and dinner.

i havent worked out the amount of calories i take in yet as im not 100% on that yet. Its a work in progress.

Ok i was joking about the 6ft thing, trying to add a bit of humour for those willing to give me advice on my diet, this is clearly lost on some people.

I was extremely overweight and am trying to do something about it. I am making a concious effort to being more active and taking my martail arts training more seriously is part of that. I posted looking for advice on my diet and thought it would be advisable to describe how actyive or inactive i am. I am an accountant aka sedientary during the day and more active in the evenings and at weekends.

I am simply seeking advice form people more knowledgeable than me regarding the structure of meals and the best times to eat them (would i be better off eating more carbs early in the moring or perhaps as i am more active in the evening, eating later in the day. I believe that they time of day you eat you meals and what you are using the energy from those meals for is paramount when you are trying to lose weight, which i am.

They probably have little nutrional value as it is. But by burning them you does the nutrional value increase?

    Good points

    - 6 meals a day
    - regularly timed
    - fruit and veg included

    Bad Points

-protein not included in every meal
-carbs in every meal (including late at night)
    -very little healthy fats
    -sauces (unless they're homemade)

    How to fix

-only use complex carbs for breakfast and before n after high tempo exercise ie look to eat carbs a max 2-3 meals a day

    - start eating plain nuts like cashews and walnuts in your snacks

    - for lunch look to use some sort of olive oil with herbs and spices in it to get some more fats in

    - if your gonna rule out fish I suggest using a protein powder to supplement your diet otherwise you will prob come to hate eating so much chicken

    - fish oil tablets are another way of getting in some fats (just gulp em down)

    - as a snack mix up some yoghurt, crush 15 walnut halves and that should hit the spot

I'm off now for New Years. Have a good one people.

I am going to have to look up some more healthy fats and add to my diet appropraitely.

If you want serious advice, stop trying to be funny and tell the boards members about your diet and workout plan/ambitions.

Otherwise, there is a humour forum.

There's no need to take that tone with someone new to the fitness forum, is there? It would have been more helpful to direct to this:

I am more for an even food intake throughout the day say 5/6 roughly around the same size meals. You may find restricting your non veg carbs to the early part of the day to help with the weight loss.
My RMR works out at 3800 but i am not eating anywhere near that. Will this cause any problems?

Depends on how anal you are about your calorie counting tbh, alot of people dont think they eat that much but fall down on portion size or simply forgetting what they ate.
    Am i a fussy eater?
eh its all relative really, you need to find foods that you enjoy eating and are good and healthy.

What am i missing by not eating fish or eggs?
Variety in terms of protein sources, after a while you can get real sick of chicken
    What are high GI foods?
Basically carbohydrates that break down quickly in the body. Sugar, white bread etc would have a high GI.

Thanks for the reply, so are high GI foods better because they break down more quickly when i need them. So should i have more high GI foods overall or just in the morning and lunchtime when the energy will be needed most. I generally eat before training and eat a little after. Would it be more beneficial to eat more after for recovery.

    Thanks again

For weightloss i think the only time you would be looking for high gi foods would be post work-out. For the rest of the time low-medium are grand. The benifit of low-medium gi foods are that they are slower burning and keep you satiated for longer, they also give a more balanced insulin response.

High GI carbs are not great for weight-loss, except in the post workout window!

Doesnt Creatine counter the effects of HGH and roids, so the roid rage small ball sydrome doesnt really exist.

Thats great thanks, ill start looking at Higher GI foods for post workout. The balanced insulin level is a bit of a relief too, i was really afraid of Diabetes because i was so fat and eating really bad.

Well eating an excess of high GI foods will cause your insulin levels to fluctuate and put you at a higher risk of diabetes. I know wikis not great but http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glycemic_index if your interested in reading a bit more on it.
