Weight-Bench

I need to invest a bit of moola into my bench set-up.

The one I have now is a temporary fix, and it's borderline dangerous (pics attatched).
Basically it's the Argos sit-up slant board resting on a chair. It's grand for now - but it'll be risky enough when I start lifting heavier.

The Argos ones look a bit flimsy and I don't want all the extra leg bits - just a basic bench.
I'm looking for one along the lines of the one in the video - here. From about 50secs in.

Any thoughts on a good quality one? Don't mind shelling out a bit if it means it won't collapse on me :)

    Have a look at www.irish-lifting.com

Mickk that posts here owns it and you can't go wrong with anything on the site.

Nothing wrong with the cheapo Argos benchs either for normal range of weights. How can you call them flimsy after using that death trap you've got there?? :D

Seriously though, unless you're lifting heavy weights (120kg+ at least I'd imagine), the build quality of the cheaper ones won't really come into question. I have the master of cheap benches upstairs, and it has 100kg on it no problems.

also - how the heck do you lift properly/intensive on that board with no rack?

Deadlift the barbell - stand over the 'bench' - sit down (slowly) - place weight on lap - hook legs into bars - in one motion - lie back and swing weight above chest - place feet on ground - start benching - hope for the best ... :)

It's an art form in itself :)

Or have someone nearby to lift weight onto chest.
I've a light enough weight in the pic above - but when I'm getting near 65-70kg - it does buckle a bit.

    Getting it replaced soon enough.
