danny lynch. Thunder is correct. I'm looking for answers to the following:
5 & 38 a: It's FA Cup friday for a direct general.
11a: bet on tennis group might delay progress.
16a: Will the sailors ape our cup?

69a: The golfer takes the fish to the secret service.
11d: Editors improve performance.

Yes, Koller is correct for 83d. Thanks for 11d. Following that I was able to get 11a = setback and 24a = overtake. I have posted answers to most of yours above.

Thalad, for the clues you're looking for I put:

17a ORACLE (anagram found in 'low acre')
73a NOEL (Brother of 49d Stephen Hunt)
68a EMBARK ('Bark' referring to the 'noisy dog', I think)
23a I put HERO but I'm not sure which it is.
