why the requirement for full face by the way? it's hard enough to see at night :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,258 ✭✭✭Cheeky monkey

Probably because its hard enough to see in the dark and shots within 10 feet are bound to happen anyway its gonna be freezing so they'll keep you warm that little bit warmer :p

Have to check with the others but would you mind teaming up with our little possie? We'd all love a night game and most of us are new to the sport too. Cheers,

If I can get a lift from and too public transport, I'm in. I should be able to full fill the support role for a team.

If there is still room you can put me down (just need a couple days notice to break the news to the wife;)). Not a member of a team and carrying an M15a4.

ill give you a lift, depending on what time we're running until, if there's no public transport running i can drop you home (considering i know where you live already :) )

now just to get some tracer rounds for that 249 of mine :)

I'll try to make it to this too, depedning on whether I can get a full face in time. Is it considered an unfair advantage or even cheating if I wear a ghille suit?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 294 ✭✭penguin-o7

    count me in
if i can get a full face mask in time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,170 ✭✭✭✭ED E

Ndex and Penguin, Paul rents masks for €1or€2 a day. And I doubt there will be many rentals at a night game.

Re: Ghille Suit, One of my little "possie" is buying a large section of scrim netting in the Uk in the next few days, would it be permissable?

Would a thick neopreme mask and goggles be allowed? IMO its safer than a full face.

count me in to if there is space

Too late for me to apply me thinks, but if I might suggest something from my previous experience of night-games.

You might want to seriously consider making it a single-shot only affair, given that minimum engagement ranges are going to go right out the window in all possibility. And I'm not sure how many people here realise just how dark the area around HRTA is going to get.

For example, Ground-Zero had 700-900 people, give or take, participating in the night-games. Which was utterly lunacy, despite having a) a huge area and b) despite being summer it was still utterly pitch-black because you were in a forest with heavy vegetation and in the middle of the country-side with no lights for miles around. Initially the night-games were to be pistol & shot-gun only, but given the large numbers of people without either, they allowed rifles that could be set to single-shot only as well. In short:
    • Pistols allowed
    • Shotguns allowed
    • Rifles that have a fire-selector or bolt-action, allowed
    • Rifles with no fire-selector other than trigger pressure, not allowed

Face-masks weren't mandatory although it was encouraged. Basically, you couldn't complain if you took a belt to the face.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,170 ✭✭✭✭ED E

Yeah, that last one would put out the Aug, but we have 2 M500 shottys. Alos, Pistols = no go. Too cold to function.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,149 ✭✭✭✭Lemming

Yeah, that last one would put out the Aug

This is true. I had to leave my AUG in its case in the campsite for the GZ night-games. Which is fair enough since I could see the safety-logic in the ruling. Mind you, loading & recharging a GBB in the pitch-black by touch alone is an interesting experience. You couldn't turn on a flashlight since you'd broadcast your location and then have about twenty-plus barrels all pointed your way (which really isn't all that good a state of affairs to find oneself in ...) :D
Alos, Pistols = no go. Too cold to function.

Forgot about that. Still, rifles with fire-selectors or bolt-action should cover most people and there's always rental kit too to consider.

Think I'll use the UMP, though it can be quite loud.
