Frankly, people do that kind of thing all the time. So, most people here will be sitting on the cynic fence untill a valid source is linked.

You're right Ken, some horrible people on this site alright.
    RIP Joe.

Heard in a phone call, thought she was joking. Shocked to read the text on RTE. RIP Joe Many a time I was at the front of the stage when he belted out all his hits. Can Boards put up a 'board of condolence' or is this it?

    RIP

    "board of condolance"?

So it looks likes Joes ambiguous sexuality will now forever be shrouded in mystery.

    RIP.

May Joe RIP, I actually have to say you sometimes imagine these people living forever in a timeless sort of way, and I suppose he will through his music. But still, 68 isnt exactly old, in todays society

    con·do·lence (kən-dō'ləns) Pronunciation Key
    n.
Sympathy with a person who has experienced pain, grief, or misfortune: paid a visit of condolence to the grieving family. See Synonyms at pity.

I grew up here in the 70s, I was into all the latest & greatest bands from Thin Lizzy to the Who, to the Boomtown Rats, to Genesis & beyond, but Joe Dolan never even appeared on my musical radar ~ maybe I am too young?

    Maybe you were just urban.

I am sad to hear of his demise, and I hope he rests in peace.

But it is probably true that he didn't enter the consciousness of us urban folk to the same extent as our rural brethren.

I (a Dubliner) was fortunate enough to spend some of my summer holidays (in the '70s) down in Newmarket, Co. Cork. Whenever Joe played the Hi-Land it was almost impossible to beat your way into the town, such was the traffic coming from miles around to see him. I never made it to one of the shows - too young - but I do recall being told that he was a tremendous performer.

He gave a lot of joy to lots of people over the years. It is a pity that he will not be able to continue doing so.
