The license then expires 1/12/2008 from what I can tell.

I just installed it quickly to see (I use & prefer Avast!). It seems to be one year and then "you have the option to purchase a license at a discounted price". You might be able to pick up another license by then (If they're still producing it by then).

I've installed AVG quite a lot of times on different computers over the last few years. Nearly every installation of AVG has suffered a break-down for no obvious reason (At an educated guess, dodgy/failed update) and it failed to pick up on a virus I knew was there on one occasion which Avast! picked up. So reliability and better detection rate, but only slightly. It still pisses on what McAfee and Norton have to offer.

I thought that was only good for 1-3 months or something. I have been using the same SN for quite some time... heh.

I tried doing a repair install over AVG free and it does not work. You need to uninstall AVG free before running the program.

Just use Bogman's link it works fine - but like I said no real difference from the free version at the end of the day.
