Id say this is for Stephens Day. Anybody know if they have any good deals on small flat screens, about 21". Prices listed on the site dont seem too good compared to DID. They have a Sony Bravia 26" HD for 399. 10 per stroe only though.

Price on powercity site is now - € 379.95

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 651 ✭✭✭eire1

Really?? Once you've completed your order + given your info it sayd someone from the Customer Care Team will contact you on the 26th of December 2007 to finalise
your Transaction. I'll make damn sure it'll be €299.95 as stated. Nothing has been charged to my credit card yet so we'll see.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,523 ✭✭✭machalla

They probably won't honour that as it doesn't constitute a contract as I understand it. Was almost considering it at €300. Not worth it now. Nice spot by the OP at the original price nonetheless.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,638 ✭✭✭bombidol

NO interest at 379.99. But ordered one at the 300 price.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 651 ✭✭✭eire1

Yeah, I'll see when someone rings tomorrow.

Aye same here!!!!! Hopefully the just sold out of their stock that was for €300.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,110 ✭✭✭Sarn

Thankfully that answered my question on whether or not I really want one. I saw it when it was €300 and I wasn't sure, definitely not at €379.95.

I'll hang on for another Tesco 20 or 30% off (there might be some games I want at that stage too!).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,965 ✭✭✭tinofapples

Ordered mine at about 12.30 today for delivery. We'll see what the person has to say when they call tomorrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,523 ✭✭✭machalla

I see its marked as sold out now. Perhaps the first few buyers got the lowest price and then they upped it after that.

Good to luck to anyone who ordered at €300 anyway, I hope it works out.

Hmmm ive no printer so just took down the ref number & name of the contact guy after putting thru cc details, hope this doesnt cause hassle :(

you're entitled to nothing until the sale is agreed (which it isn't).

I love how people get so pissy when they are denied a bargain, like the shop owes it to them somehow....

Power City. Dunno, first Iv'e heard of it tbh.

Off the top of my head, theres the following offers:

    One per customer
    Collect only
    Laser or cash

26s Sony hdlcd 399 (I got mine on xmas eve, its puuurdy)
32 philips hdlcd 399 (no pc input)
    37p Sony hdlcd 799
    50 hdplasma LG 1099
32 sanyo hdlcd 499 (no pc input)
    40s Sony hdlcd 949
40 (n series) Samsung lcd 1099 full HD
37 Lg lcd (full HD) 999
    26 beko hdlcd 299
    40 hd lcd walker 699
42 philips hdlcd 699 (no pc input)

Cant think of any more off the top of my head, but anyone looking at the sony 26, there is **** all stock (less than 5 in most branches as off xmas eve) and just to note, it will only accept 1280x768 over the vga connection, unlike my older, s series bravia (kdl-s2010u) This model is a kdl-s3000

In fairness there website advertised it as €299 with a link on the main page, then later in the day it went to €380 & now they are stated as sold out.
So yeah we are entitled to a bargain as it was advertised.
I put thru my cc details at €299 price so damn sure ill be making sure i get it at that price.

You're not legally entitled to it

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,638 ✭✭✭bombidol

Unfortunatly if it was a pricing error they dont have to sell it at that price. Im hoping it was a first few consoles for super cheap deal, if not then oh well. Another playstation customer lost.

whoever expects a shop to be forced to sell you anything needs to learn what invitation of treat is and it's position in irish consumer law.

Agreed. I work there and if some weirdo came in moaning about a price advertised on the site I would just tell him it was obviously a mistake, I cant do anything about it unfortunately and if he has an issue ring customer service. :p

    agggh!

how exactly do you think you are "entitled to a bargain"?!

the shop has no obligation to sell it to you if it was a mistake.

you missed out, get over it.

having said that, if you do manage to get it for 299 then kudos :)

Stoopid question, and, ehm, probably off-topic, but what does the 1280x768 etc mean for yer average viewer? I gather it's not proper 16:9, but I'm not very tech-minded, or terribly fussy about HD-ness, and am really just more concerned with how the picture would look to yer bog-standard lay person (as opposed to someone who knows what they're looking for). As in, is the picture stretched weirdly or anything?

The various TVs that are advertised to click on the website, with quotes of say, 20 per store or such, they're presumably separate from this, yeah? Are they available for walk-in purchase, or do they have to be booking online?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,566 ✭✭✭GrumPy

If it is indeed on, i will be availing of it at 299. And it wont matter if there sold out, I can just book it up, and being staff, pay and pick it up when there back in stock/whenever I want. :D

The 32 philips is the highest stock quantity. But also prolly the most sought after. At least 20 in each branch.

I was referring to the resolution over the pc input (vga) wont affect you at all, and has nothing to do with aspect ratio/wierd picture shape.
(my old tv was 1366x768 over vga, and I was surprised the newer model doesnt support that, thats all)

    Walk in only, not online.

The stock count on the website is a lie, they havn't got it synced with the actual stock counts in reality.

When you say "collect only", does that mean you have to pay in store _and_ take it away yourself? Or can you pay in store and ask for delivery?

they are talking about connecting it to a computer, so dont worry about that

be careful with all that hd nonsense
a normal tv signal from an aerial or regular sky will look crap on most of them - the old crt is still clearer

to get a clear picture on most hd lcd you need to have a hd input
so for tv you need to buy and subscribe to sky hd box - which is another rip off .

all a bit of a scam really to get you to buy more electronics - stick with the old crt
