    Hey,

I was banned from the Mobile forum 3 days ago, and have since tried to contact the mod but still has not been online, The Thread in which this regards to is the iphone thread is which i have giving Alot of time and effort in giving people support in how to fix iphones etc, and have gone into business selling on unlock solution for the new iphones and wanted boards iphones users first dips on ordering them, And honestly thinking i was doing a good deed i was actually advertising with against the rules but i genuinely didnt mean to,As you can see from the iphone thread i give people support and help people and have been since being a member and it was a genuine mistake and the site wont be mentioned again.

    Regards

    Dan

From the general rules of the charter. Number 1:
No blatant advertising/soliciting (unless you pay Boards Ltd. for it).

I'd say that's why the ban is there somehow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,659 ✭✭✭PowerHouseDan

I understand i broke the rules not meaning too I have also emailed Vex about paying boards for advertising. Was just hoping i could get it reduced( not even knowing how long i am banned for as the mod didnt send me a pm)

I'd guess (and this is only my opinion, I'm not an admin) when Vexorg comes back to you with some details and ye square away any potential business transactions, they may be in a position to do something. But given the time of year, don't expect people to have their normal online presents (see what I did there? ;)) so you may have to wait a little while.

The fact that you appear to be a reasonable person is also helping - let other feedback posters take note!

    Hi Dan,

I have been a relative newcomer to this thread but having read all 100 pages at this stage (the iPhone unlock pages that is), can I thank you on behalf of all newbies. Your knowledge is beyond question and I have gone from being an extremely nervous unlocker to a simply nervous unlocker (still haven't done it!!!)

You have been the font of knowledge on everything iPhone and without you, there would be a lot of bricks around.

I hope everything works out for you and the best of luck with the new venture.

Hope to see you back online soon to help the helpless like myself. Keep up the good work.

    Anyone?

Well, it's Christmas time, and as you might expect, a fair few people aren't online. Just be patient, you're up front and polite about the issue and I'm sure the moderators of Mobiles will get back to you and everything will be sorted out nicely.

    Anyone?

Hi there and a happy Crimbo to ya!!

Maybe you can help me - I going bananas here!!

Got my stealth sim and tried to activate/jailbreak/upgrade my iphone today. Problem is my iBook runs 10.3.9 and I need at least 10.4 to use iphone.

So - took phone into work today to use it on office computers but there is no wifi (there is, but it is incredibly weak!)

So - I took computer home and rigged it up in my house (I have eircom wireless broadband) but the bloody computer would not 'latch on' to this.

I am now stuck with a iphone that has got almost as far as the jailbreakme.com bit.

    Any suggestions???

It`s not surprise that more than 600,000 doctors choice the prescription drug Viagra for their patients with erectile dysfunction(ED).

Fact is, when taken correctly, Viagra works for most men. Studies show that it works for up to 4 out of 5 men (versus 1 out of 4 on sugar pill)

Viagra improves erections for most men no matter how long they have had ED, what caused it, how often they have it, or how old they are. We provide you 100% results after using our products.

OP: Iv put a request in on the Moderators Forum for the Mobile Mods to respond. As has been said, the reason for the delay is more then likely the season that it is. Im sure it will be dealt with soon. Please be patient :)

PowerHouseDan, you were banned by me for blatant advertising, which is strictly against the rules of the forum (and pretty much every forum on Boards). It was ultimately a pretty much open and shut case.

As for having the ban lifted, this typically does not happen for such infractions and as such I have no intention of doing so, however I personally have no objection if it were lifted by one of the Admins.

That is all I have to say on the matter.

I can't see how this situation has arisen at all, and I'm baffled by it. PHD is a very positive contributor to the Forum, and has been a stalwart in answering people's questions. He should have been PM'd first, and warned rather than banned. It's not as if he's someone with 1 post coming in freeloading looking to make a quick buck. And I'd guarantee, judging by his character in his posts, that if you had asked, rather than ban, he'd have cheerfully agreed to stop.

this seems like words of wisdom. But, it's 'your' forum. Seems a shame to lose a good contributor to a forum though.

    :(:(:mad::eek:

I fully agree, powerhousedan was very important for the forum and I find it outrageous he wasn't given a warning first. He has thousands of posts, all of which were helpful and constructive for the thread they were posted in and that's why i'm shocked that he was banned so quickly without second thought.
How do we encourage the admins to un-ban him? I really cannot emphasise enough how much I disagree with the mods decision.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,163 ✭✭✭✭Boston

Well the thousands of posts argument won't wash with the admins from experience. If he had that many posts then he was well aware of his actions or at least should have been. He probably pissed off the mod in question with his little foot tapping routine. Best advice would be to revisit this in the new year.

It doesn't matter how helpful he is or how many posts he has. He broke the rules, he got banned. Simple as that.

Just shows when you need help from boards it aint there.I'd like to say Thanks to the people who have stood up for me its kind of ye all just sorry i cant be of help anymore. And yeah i was advertising but really i was trying to give Boards user a discount price over the advertised price so if i get banned trying to help then so be it.

To be entirely fair, in Dan's situation, it's clear he's not a spammer, and I think he should be unbanned. Let the current ban be a warning, but he's been nothing but polite here, and I don't really see the need to keep him banned.

I agree with that. A warning would have been all that was necessary, IMO.

The mod who issued the ban has not been online and the other mods would prefer he made the decission. Boston, can you quote where he said he wont lift the ban?

OP: Its not over just yet.
