are we content with just the pav?

Is there enough events going on?

No one wants to see Moro Coconuts return.

I'm gonna run again this year under the campaign of "Moro Coconuts. Never Again."

No way I coudl not get enough of them, it drove me mad in America over teh summer when every bar was a micture of chocolate and nuts in some guise, they were all the same,
I managed to get almost everyone I know hooked on them when I came back
will have to go routing thorugh cheap pound shops now in search of them.

I always thought Crasho0o0o was Bartley Rock.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,504 ✭✭✭Nehpets

I think Bartley is Bartley Rock (Yes that is his real name) (Yes he does say this at every opportunity he gets :p). Helpful guy!

Never had a Moro coconut. Original Moro ftw.

And too busy tutoring us poor computer illiterate maths students! :o Speaking of which I should probably start going to those classes...

Slightly more on-topic, some proper heating in the Maxwell would be nice. That place is always either too hot or too cold (and always smells of food from the Hamilton Cafe when you're hungry)!

    Moro Coco oh.

Fewer skateboarders on our beautiful new Berkeley Library forecourt would be nice.

Moro Coconuts are deadly. You have no taste!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

I'd agree with you there - its funny that the gravel was originally put there to stop skateboarders using it, Security will need to put a bit more of a presence around there to stop it going on.

Amazing what a difference it makes though, never used to like the plaza at the front until I saw it sans gravel.

Benches would be nice.. and maybe tazers attached to said benches to ward off skateboarders..

It is funny to see them crease themselves on the steps though, one of the joys of having lived in New Square.

Yeah, remember seeing a fella come about two inches from faceplanting straight into the sloped sides - had gone for an afternoon hangover stroll after a Pav Friday and nearly dropped my weekends food shopping I started laughing so hard.

Good times. God I miss campus.

I think I heard something about making Front Square wheelchair accessible so they're going to build a smooth path through it. Not sure if it's true though, I'm sure it would violate some historical preservation law.

It's happening. It's called the Cobble Reduction Programme.

That counts as two: "1. I want to see naked dancing ladies. 2. I want more than one bar."

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 882 ✭✭✭cunnins4

    Naked ladies would be good.

What would also be nice would be a microwave in the Hamilton for us bums who bring in their own lunches. Sandwiches get so boring. Now if I could bring in something to heat up.......

There should hopefully be a good deal more seating by the end of the academic year.

What do I want to see? Regular sleeping patterns would be nice. If that's too unrealistic, world peace will do just fine.

    yes. moro coconut. godly bar.

the pav. in comparison with the NUI maynooth SU building its a ****ing joke. no space, no dancefloor, no huge projector screens with naked ladies on the and one bar? we need a new big motherfcuking building which students can actually enjoy and kip regularily. NUI maynooth even has its own cheep hostel for pissed students. we have a pokey old smelly cramped cricket room.

I know the intention is to make Luce Hall into a student centre, but why not Regent House (which I understand is empty most days)? Or the big disused hall on Foster Place?

Yeah but there's **** all life in the SU bar in NUIM. Such a dull place to drink.

There's room for a speed dating evening once/week. Wonder if it's just me who would be up for it?

Good idea.....not that I need it!!

Ah no, just kidding. But yea a good idea...it would be a quick and simple way to meet people, especially during those few weeks where you have a big workload and zero time!

My suggestions: 1. Alter physics labs!!! Get rid of those stupid reports that take ages!!

    2. Enforce happiness on all members of the academic staff. I am tired of looking at such dreary or stern faces, and it gets me down and afraid :(

In general? What would be the point of the College then?

Besides, most courses that have mandatory attendance are professionally accredited courses, which means that attendance is necessary.

Attendance is compulsory for all Junior Freshmen too: I'm not quite sure why that is.

Why would we want to imitate a model that has - according to some people - failed to deliver? The Pav is spectacularly popular when the weather is good, so I wouldn't be so keen to knock it.

Is that even enforced? I'd generally consider it a miracle if more than half my course turn up for a lecture:o I'm always there of course (although I wonder if anyone would miss me if I was gone?) I do skip the occassional lecture (coughxxeconomicsxxcough) because I'd generally feel I'd do better in the library (or in today's case the Buttery!)

They can't exactly take a roll call in lectures, so how is this rule enforced?

Has anyone ever 'been done' for skipping lectures?

More handlebar moustaches. That or Hulk Hogan-esque 'taches.

Eh, just in general. I think the world would be a much better place with more handlebar moustaches.

If you miss a certain amount (depends on the course/department/etc.) you can get NS'd.

Yeah but they don't take attendance in lectures (could take a while in the Ed Burke!) so they'd never know you were missing. I'm not promoting skipping lectures! I just think it's impossible to enforce in lectures with more than 30 people.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 561 ✭✭✭paperclip

In my pharmacology lectures, they take a roll call. In most other lectures they pass around a piece of paper and have everyone sign it. The same for the labs.
(I'm in one of the mandatory-attendance courses, darnit.)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

As am I, apparently (accredited course, but in reality its not that often attendance is taken).

Only ever came close to being NS'ed once, last year, but thanks to nice lecturer we instead had a oddly close to father/son conversation.

    "i'm not angry, more disappointed."
"you're big enough to know better, so i'm not going to NS you"

being phrases that were used. to be honest, I wasn't even arguing against the NS idea, I deserved it fully.

Easier to count how many I attended, probably. takes fewer hands.

it was more lack of coursework than attendance though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,311 ✭✭✭xebec

I was threatened with an NS this year. Until I pointed out to the lecture that I wasn't actually taking his course - mix-up with electives.
