Spotting the signs

How can you spot if a girl fancies you?
One girl I knew that fancied me would, while sitting at her desk, stretch backwards and put her hands behind her head, thus sticking her chest out. What other gestures are there?

if they reduce the distance on the restraining order, it's usually a pretty good sign they're warming to you.

If you're Irish and she's not and she dresses up as a leprechaun and touches your arm... it's all quite obvious really.

You wont know if a girl likes you until you punch her in the ovaries.

If she lends you her crayons for colouring in.. also if she tells her friends your a 'poopy-head' (classic female reverse psychology tactic)

If there's steam coming out the top of her pants, she's definitely into you.

Love if there was some system where if two people fancied each other then they would both become aware. The amount of people out there who fancy each other but nothing will ever happen..

    Women don't do that.

I studied a bit of human psychology , and according to what i remember, if a person raises their eyebrow whilst looking at you, thats a very strong sign of attraction, also, for women, twiddling their hair is a sign, but basically open posture is the main one, for example if the girl is seated beside you, but her body is angled away from you, then she doesnt find you attractive. another trait is the girl who touches you a lot, playfully.for a man, loosening your collar and tie is a dead giveaway in the office environment.hope that helps...

When they stare at you across the Arts block when you're trying to study..oh wait, now I get it!

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 23,556 ✭✭✭✭Sir Digby Chicken Caesar

but then of course you have bloody flirts who do all this stuff even when they don't find you attractive.

    bloody flirts.

raises their eyebrow, twiddles their hair, touches you a lot

Yea but you see everyone is very different(this is why psychology annoys me and why im supposed to be studying it right now but am not)

i wouldnt do any of those things and i would also run a mile from somebody i really like....its wierd but i sometimes cant help it!

What about if a confident and intelligent woman seems to be awkward only around you? Either she fancies me or she thinks I'm a rapist

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 23,556 ✭✭✭✭Sir Digby Chicken Caesar

there's a chick in the shop across the road from me who stares at me as if I'm a rapist whenever I walk in.. it's freaky.

If she laughs at your jokes, then she probably finds you attractive.

I think its fairly obvious when a guy fancies a girl and it should be obvious the other way around, but either we're great at hiding it. Or you (guys) cant read whats infront of your face.

What if you're hysterically funy but ugly as fúck? (eg like Tommy Tiernan - only hysterically funny).

If every time she sees you, the floor suddenly becomes slippery around her.

Either she likes you or she's incontinent. Or both!

nah i wouldnt agree, i think loads of lads are hilarious but wouldnt fancy them..it does help though

    bit of both id say...

i think it is totally down to the person.i know some people who tell lads they fancy them by basically being in their face or all flirtatious and then theres others who hide it completely...until they've had a few vodkas at least!!

    Nope.
If last night was anything to go by, then that's a load of crap.
I came home alone, smelling of her perfume from the constant hugs and crap.

Tommy Tiernan Hot? Not my cup of tea at all.

I do find funny men attractive though and I do think that if your funny it makes you hotter -- but like you said maybe not hot enough to fancy them.

In fairness a lot of people flirt with other people and are touchy feely with them etc and would even fancy them to a certain extent but would have no intention of taking it any further, do you think?

I got that from a lady on the bus the other day. She must have been about 40 odd though...Very fidgety. She didn't start until I began talking about Shakespeare.

Did you bring up the Scottish play?
That might have freaked her out a bit.

Macbeth? Yes it was part of the conversation. Mostly about the Merchant of Venice though.

Everyone is different. There are no magic formulas. Then again, if in the beginning she:
    • gives you a lot of eye contact
    • smiles when she first sees you
    • looks back a second time when leaving
    • likes to sit close to you
    • expresses interest in what you have to say
    • shares things personal about herself
    • wants to know more personal things about you
    • asks if you have a g/f or are married
    • gives you her phone number without hesitation
    • accepts your invitation for a date
    • tells her friends how HOT you are (and it gets back to you)
...it just might be worth your while to pursue her?

Feeling a bit pedantic tonight and unless boards.ie is actually a theatre and putting on the play, you don't have to worry about saying Macbeth. It's only the luvvies that get themselves into a sweat about it.

Break a leg is also a theatrical expression and I do point this out to anyone who uses the term inappropriately in everyday conversation.

    Back on topic.

Women - I will never understand them. I sometimes think it would be easier to be gay - I'd get my hole everynight no problem.
