    Hi

Since going on diet in September I have lost 12 kilos and am in the normal range of weight for height. I also feel much better. Only thing is I still have big stomach.

But I wondered what you folks do regarding diet at Xmas. Have given up on all sweet things, cakes etc but would like to be able to enjoy some at Xmas. Saw chocolate for diabetics in Boots, no sugar. Could I eat some of that, and has anyone experience of 'weight watcher' type cakkes, sweet things.

Thanks for the previous advice it was a great help in losing the weight

I was dieting fairly hard over last Christmas. My approach was to just keep the treats in moderation and keep up the gym visits over the period. I managed to lose a kilo or two over the actual week of Christmas, as I recall.

Enjoy your Christmas dinner and have some treats of normal chocolate/cake etc on Christmas day - just as long as you don't spend the rest of December gorging yourself no real damage will be done.

Since you haven't been used to eating this sort of thing you'll really enjoy smaller portions, anyway - you'd probably just feel terrible if you spent a fortnight having Quality Street for breakfast...

Eh ill prob do what i did when i went on holidays, i wont eat a 100% clean but at the same time i wont go on a mad binge either. So where possible i will make good food choices like loads of meat and veg but probably lighter on the potatos. A nice tasty omelette for breakie instead of toast. but not exactly planning on depriving myself either. Its only a week and a couple of days eating well wont destroy my diet. Plus ill prob try and get some walking and what not in to offset the lack of structure in my diet.

I think its okay to have a couple of days off, i dont really rate the weightwatcher type cakes tbh.

Fair play. What were the original and current weights? Height?

Christmas day will see me absolutely stuffing myself to bursting with turkey, smoked salmon, vegetables (in lashing of butter), more turkey, mashed vegetables, the odd handful of nuts, still more turkey and at some stage, if I have room, a teeny slice of Christmas pud.

Treats are only really "treats" if you convince yourself they are. To me, getting a license to eat as much lean white meat as I can fit into my belly is treat enough to keep me happy. Drink lots of water, keep yourself full and get out and go for a walk in the fresh air whenever you get a chance.

i'm the same, just eating a big portion of a clean food is treat enough for me

maybe one or 2 tunnock's tea cakes during a hefty weights session

I would rather have a half bar of my favourite chocolate than a full bar of a mediocre one. Same goes for some other stuff, a little real butter rather than a lot of flora etc.

weightwater stuff is a con a lot of the time, just pick up 2 packs WW and "normal" and compare the per 100g. ignore the portion size, as the one they quote is ridiculously small, not fit for an infant! That is the con, small portion quotes, and small packs, watered down sauces & meals.

You might have a WW lasagne and it may have less caloires per 100g than a normal one. Check the protein, meat content etc, chances are it is just watered down, yet costs more per 100g anyways.

I didnt put on wieght last christmas. Give gifts of chocolates away. Millions of lean turkey around.

I will probably do some weights just before xmas dinner, and treat it as a big PWO meal, probably will be still pissed from christmas eve though...

Well this year we are having a family strongman contest on St Stephen's Day.

Al the families choose 3 representatives and we will be working as a team, best score for the team as a whole goes forward from each round, one person can opt to sit out each round it they choose to rest up or just have a weak event.

    So it's gonna be

Tyre Flip, distance for time ( i think the tire will weigh about 400 pounds or so )
Farmers Walk, 80 kilos per arm
Atlas Stones ( my uncle actually has these, awesome )
Log Press for Reps ( not too sure what the log will weigh, something awful no doubt )
Tractor Pull ( hey, we are culchies after all )

so basically Christmas Eve will be practice runs with everything at low intensity and load, as much food as i can fit in. Christmas Day will be all you can eat and Stephens Day will be even worse!

We're bringing it home folks, me, the old lad and the brother....oh yes.

This is the single coolest idea I have ever heard. Most families play charades or monopoly, but Dragan's family obviously kick serious ass

I'd love if you videotaped this, it would be deadly

The only things I'll be lifting for reps is a gateaux yuletide log, and my aluminium 500ml dumbells.
