Just wanted to get some opinions on the changed being made to the gym in total fitness on the malahide road?

My own opinion is that they haven't really thought the changes through and they have annoyed a lot of members with the changes. I now find that there is no room to work out and you have to watch around you incase someone is walking around the bench or machine you are on, also I reckon some members maybe intimidated by other members of the gym, especially the bigger lads.

Does anyone know if these changes are permanent or just temporary?

How is that related to the gym restructure? Are people bumping into each other?

Yep since they moved the free weights part of the gym for the room in the front downstairs to upstairs there isnt much room to move. The benches are practically on top of one another and there is no room to much work with dumb bells. Whereas the room downstairs had plenty of room for working out. Now there is just a cramped feeling.

What have they put in the room downstairs?

A kids play area is the plan.

That's a fcuking disgrace. If they even attempt to do that in Castleknock/Blanch there'd be hell raised. There needs to be some mass protest by the members...

They won't, they've already moved the kids training area to just outside the female changing room, it's like an obsticle course trying to get to the free weights room from them.

I went into the GYM thismornng, Took one look and walked back out. Its bloody crazy, Not all members are as big as the other lads myself included and so being that exposed to the scrutiny of the more experienced member is enough to cancel my membership. My employer currently uses Total Fitness and we have about 35-45 memberships with them, in our office today we've started a petition to have our GYM chanced to westwood in clontarf instead.
So good job total fitness, 40 memberships are about to be lost due to your idiotic planning of the weights area. I suspect largely due to the intimidation alone many members will soon leave!!!

'intimidation' Isnt the word!! I felt like everyone was watching me.
I'm calling in on my way home tonight to cancel my membership too.

Maybe someone should link tthe management to this thread and tell them what's going to happen if they don't change it back. I'm pretty sure losing 50 members straight away wit the possibility of much more going down the pan as well would be enough to make them have second thoughts.

By all means let management know what's going to happen but can we keep boards out of it? Merci buckets.

Have any of you actually complained to the management as opposed to complaining on Boards??

Thanks for the heads up on the reconfig of the gym upstairs. I went up today to have a look as I was thinking of rejoining. Under no circumstances would I rejoin now.

i wrote them the sternest of letters recently - but as of yet no reply

i heard that they are refunding members fees who are not happy.
i went to jackie skelly in swords this morning and i felt like crying - their weights area was pitiful - no squat rack either.
it's gay cos JS is practically beside my house.

i like to bring the young lad swimming as well as training so I kinda need one of the mainstream gyms with a pool rather than an "elitist" gym. otherwise I'd be down in Image straight away.

TF used to have it all.
