I understand that the Wii is hard to get in Ireland.
They are freely available here in France. My local Fnac store has them stacked on the sales floor.
Here's a link if you want to order on line.
You may have to pay extra for express delivery.

I assume this will Play irish Games, do france not use some dodgy version of PAL?

Shouldn't be a problem. Has been widely been reported that the Brits have resorted to taking Wii trips on the ferries to France to get them. And Pixmania flog 'em also.
    Nice tip Hagar.

Modern French TVs are Dual Pal/Secam, it's not important anyway once you use the Scart/RCA connector lead. They play all games.

I believe they had 2 bundles - one for about €300 and the other for €330. Haven't a clue what's in either of the bundles....

Don't know if this is any good to ye guys. I was in Smyths Fonthill at 8.30 this evening on another mission ;) and a lady was picking up a pre-ordered wii. I askd were they in stock again and the lad said "no that was pre-ordered. They go on general sale tomorrow" or words very similar. And because I have it to hand as I was on the bearded mission 6304451 is le numero.

Virgin in Dundrum are charging 500 Euro. You must buy any five games with the console.

    Disgraceful, but there you go.

At about 3:30 Gamestop in Waterford had 11 Wii's in stock. €300 just for Wii with Wii Sports. While I was there two were sold though in the space of 5 mins so I doubt they'll be there for long. So glad I got mine months ago for €260

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73 ✭✭bloke

Game in Liffey Valley had them this evening @7:30 or so. There were half a dozen people queuing but you never know - might be some left in the morning! (hopefully karma will now direct me to a nintendo DS in stock somewhere... ;-) )

There are massive deliveries on the way next week I hear, stacks of wiis on sale nationwide by next saturday.

We keep getting these promised of "millions" of Wiis for delivery and now massive deliveries on their way. Yet The Registrar reports the following
"Reg Hardware today received a number of emails from readers who were last night contacted by Woolworths to tell them their pre-ordered Wiis might not arrive until Christmas.

"Nintendo have only shipped part of the promised stock for Nintendo Wii to all retailers within the UK," the retailer told pre-order customers. "Due to this, we have only received part of our allocation. We are led to believe by Nintendo that we will receive all stock in time for pre-Christmas delivery. Please accept our apologies for this delay."

Woolworths' email suggests the problem is not restricted to it alone. Indeed, we also heard today from readers who claimed Amazon.co.uk had issued a similar warnings to its pre-order customers. Again, it appears the online retailer may not get enough stock to supply consoles tomorrow, though it appears to be promising to get product out to buyers before Christmas.

Woolworths' comments mirror comments made today by DSG Group, owner of Currys, PC World and the dixons.co.uk website, that while it expects to be able to meet pre-orders for the Wii, it may not be able to supply consoles to anyone else.

"We're expecting four deliveries between now and Christmas and we expect them all to go to pre-orders," the company told website GamesIndustry.biz.

Right now the best value for Wiis in Ireland is E Bay where currently consoles are available for less than 300 euro. As a lot of these are in Ireland ready for despatch you will get them in plenty of time for Christmas.

I wouldn't say dribs and drabs tbh. They get orders ,they sell-out.It's been like that since the launch of the Wii and if it was drips and draps ':)' well it wouldn't be the top selling console one would think.

HMV @ blanch have around 40 wii's in stock about half an hour ago. No que's in there either so I'd imagine they will be there for a few more hours.

They also had a load of wii remotes ( Wii Play ) Got one my self. Its 2 euro more to get Wii play package with the controller and you get a free game (wii play) with it. ( Controller + wii play)

Does anyone know of anywhere else in Dublin that has WII remotes in stock today???

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,713 ✭✭✭✭jor el

Saw a sign in Virgin in the Cresent Shopping Centre in Limerick yesterday saying they had Wii in stock for 360 (or 380) with 3 games. Didn't say what games and I didn't check as a Wii is not a console I'd be bothered with. Someone might though ;)
