Bit of an odd reason to leave it! it is actually a very good show, very underrated and fairly dark unlike Smallville which it is paired with in the US. It is also not cheesy and full of bad acting and dialogue also like Smallville :D

Season 2 really got going mid-way through with stuff about Sam's destiny and season 3 has been great so far. Also helps that they added 2 incredibly fine women into it :)

Season 3 really has been good, hasn't it?
Get back into it, basquille.... its well worth the effort for a consistently entertaining show.

Am a fan of the first 2 series, some episodes better than others but have heard that TV3 not showing the third series and would love to see it, especially after watching the last episodes of the 2nd series recently. Can't wait til next October til it comes out on DVD here. Please let me know , thanks!:D

According to Digiguide, Tv3 will start showing season 3 on Saturday January 5th. It'll be paired with the new vampire series Moonlight in a late night slot.

I hope that's happening alright. I emailed TV3 in December to enquire and I got a lovely reply from Programming saying that they had no plans to show series 3. I hope that was an error on their part! Fingers crossed, we'll find out on the 5th! Happy New Year to all !

    Hi again,
am happy to report that the TV guide in today's Irish Times also mentions Supernatural : A New Fantasy series with Jensen Ackles and Jared Paldalecki. Demons who embody the seven deadly sins are released.
Doesn't sound like any episode I've seen so it's looking good that we'll be seeing the new series at 2340 on 5th. Happy days!!:D

TV3 are morons, they had Supernatural at 11pm on saturdays, but then moved it to midnight, so they could repeat "Bionic Woman" at 11pm, what the hell is wrong with them, "Supernatural" is immensely better than "Bionic Woman"

are you sure? my cousins sent me episodes 10 and 11 last week but I haven't asked them yet if 12 is available.

The last couple have been brilliant. Episode 11 (the
    Groundhog Day episode
) went from being very funny to dark as hell in the same episode.

Episode 12 (Jus In Bello) was on Thursday in the States.
Brilliant brilliant episode - introduced Sam and Dean's new nemesis (and what a great creation - Makes the yellow eyed demon look like a mild case of jaundice).

Anyone else not liking Bela and Ruby. I can't stand them.

I miss Meg she was a great villian

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,428 ✭✭✭✭odyssey06

Ruby is intriguing. In the last episode she was in we got a bit more of her back story.

Not really a fan of Bela. Why has she got a posh English accent? Why haven't the lads shot her or fed her to the cops?

I like Ruby, despite not knowing what exactly her intentions are. Hate Bela, she has no redeeming qualities.

The Groundhog day episode was brilliant,as was the latest episode. I think this season so far has been consistantly strong.

yeah, find Ruby interesting too but can't make out Bella.Maybe she also has a story that will endear her to us? Anyone else think that the female imput is a ploy to keep (some of) the boys interested?? Still love the series though! Anyone else taping/watching the Moonlight programme on afterwards? So simliar to the old Highlander series ( decapitation kills immortals, lead character struggling with personal relationships etc). Supernatural still far superior!

Yes i love both Supernatural and Moonlight (maybe cause the male leads are hot)

I don't mind Ruby but can't stand Bela.

    http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-Editors-Blog/Ausiello-Report/Supernatural-Exec-Wont/800019020
All hell has broken loose in the Supernatural community. Ever since news leaked that the show was introducing two new shagadelic female series regulars this coming season, fans have inundated me with hundreds of angry e-mails. Their chief concern: In a bid to broaden the serial thriller's appeal, CW brass are forcing producers to bimbofy the show, hence the two new lady killers (played by Katie Cassidy and Lauren Cohan). In an exclusive interview, series creator Eric Kripke addressed the controversy head-on, clearing the air about the changes ahead and offering a preview of what he's calling "the best season of Supernatural yet."

Fans are in a bit of a tizzy.
    Eric Kripke:
First of all, I love our fans. I love them to death. I love how passionate they are. But they tend to worry unnecessarily. They tend to get stressed before they have a chance to judge the finished product. We are so conscious and aware of our fans. We're making the show for the fans; we're not making the show for the network. We would never do anything to betray them. I'm not saying we're perfect. I'm not saying we don't make mistakes. But we're very conscious and aware. And when we do make mistakes, we course-correct. So if I can get any message to them, it's, 'Don't worry. We're making choices based on what's best creatively for the show.'

Is it true that the CW asked you to introduce the two new females?
    Kripke:
The real, honest answer is, we knew we were going to introduce one female character, Ruby. And Dawn [Ostroff] said, 'Could you introduce two female characters.' We said, 'We've got this great female character — the Bela character — who we already had written a script for, who we love. And who we were going to bring back anyway. Let's make her a regular.' So, it was not thrust upon us. We were already introducing one. She wanted us to introduce two. And it's of the producers' own volition. We are not turning into One Tree Hill with monsters — I swear. I'd rather put a gun in my mouth. I understand everyone is nervous, but if they just hang in there, and watch the episodes, and watch how it turns out... we have not lost our head. We're delivering what we feel is the best season of Supernatural yet.

What specific misconceptions about the upcoming season would you like to clear up?
    Kripke:
First, the perception online, because I read online as much as anybody, that suddenly the show is going to be Scooby-Doo. And that it's going to be Sam and Dean with these two girls in the backseat of the Impala, and they're going to cruise from town to town, they're going to do a little go-go dancing, and then they're going to fight some monsters. That is not the case. The girls are recurring regulars, first of all, which means that our contracts with them, tops, puts them in 12 out of 22 episodes. That's tops. So there's no reformulation where it's the four of them together where they're in every episode. We're introducing them very carefully. We're not jamming them in every episode. They weave in and out of the story, like other hunters have on our show in the past. It's not the four of them in every episode. Bela shows up, and then Ruby shows up, and then the boys are alone.... So they're just interchanging as they're traveling around the country. They're just bumping into different characters. They're also bumping into Gordon, Agent Hendrickson, and Bobby and Ellen, because we're opening up the world of the show. We've always said we were going to expand the Supernatural universe. We always felt the show had the potential to have just as fleshed-out a universe as Star Wars or Lord of the Rings. And that involves introducing new characters. So, that's one.

    And two?
    Kripke:
Two, there's a misconception online that they're being introduced as love interests. They're not being introduced as love interests; they're being introduced as antagonists. I know people weren't thrilled about Jo last season, but we feel we've learned from that mistake. I love the actress [Alona Tal], but the problem was, we conceived the character wrong. She was the girl next door, she was the little sister, and her attitude was, 'How can I help you?' And, [exec producer] Bob Singer and I always said to ourselves in Season 2, if we were to bring girls into the show, the way to bring them in is to make trouble for the guys, not to be helpful. To introduce them as their own fleshed-out characters in their own right, who are raging pains in the ass, and trouble, and dangerous, and then sort of see what happens. I've already broken the first 10 episodes, and, so far, there's nothing even close to romance. It's closer to they're going to come to blows with each other.

There's a thin line between love and hate....
    Kripke:
True. We're going to see how it goes. We're going to see, 'Is there chemistry? Are there sparks?' What we're trying to do is what shows that we admire tried to do, like The X-Files and Buffy. Yes, The X-Files is about Mulder and Scully, but Skinner grew to play a part. The Lone Gunmen grew to play a part. Buffy had other characters that were coming in and out of the story line, and they were fascinating characters. The trick is to not introduce them as love interests. The trick, we feel, is to introduce them as fleshed-out characters with their own inner lives, and then see what develops. And the other thing is, the girls are very separate and very different. And very rarely are they in the same episode, because they're each serving very different story lines. Ruby (Katie Cassidy) is this demon hunter, who is ruthless and a little crazy and rough around the edges, and doesn't share the same moral conscience that either of the boys share. A little unhinged in that way. There's going to be a big twist about Ruby very early on. As early as Episode 2 you're going to learn something very fascinating about Ruby.

    And what about Bela?
    Kripke:
Bela (Lauren Cohan) is actually something we never presented on Supernatural before, which is someone who lives in this world who actually isn't a hunter. She's a thief and a mercenary. And all of these amulets and magical objects that the boys are always stealing and using to fight creatures are actually worth a lot of money. And there's someone to buy and sell them. And she's really not interested in the altruistic or obsessed or revenge-minded motives of hunting. She's interested in a free-market economy and making a buck. She's in it for herself. That's someone they've really never come across before. 'I don't really care if you stop that ghost, I want that amulet,' which if she disappears with it, the boys are screwed.

The love interest thing must be in the back of your head, right?
    Kripke:
Our fans are notoriously protective of our boys. If the chemistry is there, and we see the sparks, and we want it to happen, and the fans want it to happen, it'll happen. We're not planning for it at this point, because we just don't know. We don't know which girl is going to spark to which guy, we just don't know what's going to happen. We're just going to add the ingredients together and let them percolate, and then move from there. But honestly, I swear, at this point, I don't have plans for the girls to pair up with the guys. They might. But until I see who works best with whom, I'm just not going to pull that trigger.

What else can you tell me about Season 3?
    Kripke:
This is a season where war breaks out. And there's no longer any of this, 'Who's the psychic kid? And I should follow the yellow-eyed demon, what?' It's war. We're at war. Choose a side. It's the end of the world. We feel this is the most exciting season yet. We feel this is the season to join the party. I'm not promising that we're not going to make missteps, as any show does. But the difference between us and other shows is when they make missteps, they say, 'Go f--- yourself.' When we make missteps, we pay attention to the fans and we course-correct. So, fans, I love you all, but stop worrying.

    http://www.charlotte.com/153/story/502321.html

    Q. I'm interested in the cult following "Supernatural" has earned, and I've read you're well aware of it. How did you first come to realize you had a group of fanatics? I would say the first inkling I had that there was a cult following came online. I was checking out message boards and Web sites that were discussing the shows. I'd say that, if "Supernatural" has a core base of fans, it's within the online community. It's interesting how we have a fan community that probably would be impossible for a show to have even five years ago. With technology what it is today, the fans are able to talk with each other about the show, what they liked and didn't like. They create fan videos, coordinate their responses and really organize in a way that was unprecedented until this Internet age. "Lost" and "Heroes" also have a massive fan base online, but our small little community has ended up with a louder voice than it would have had other wise, which has helped.

We have all of this stuff that a show of our size usually doesn't have, a comic book, novels and such. The reason we have it is the online community is so vocal and so passionate.

    Q. How would you describe the show's fans? One of the things I noticed early on is how much attention they pay to the shows. I knew we were responding to an intelligent group of people, a group that enjoys genre shows and are of a high intelligence level. They are very literate. Online, we read them referencing classic novels and foreign films. They range in age from teens to the 40s. It's a diverse group.

    Q. I'd assume it's flattering, but can it also be a burden? I have a sort of a big-picture view of it. It can drive you nuts if you let it, because people have torn opinions on the show. They really demand excellence and when you don't deliver, they are just as vocal with their ire as they are with their praise, if not more so. So sometimes, you feel a little embattled. You feel a little besieged. You're like `God, I can't ever make these fans happy whatever I do.' We do this show under terrific limitations, with not much time and not much money. It's impossible to nail perfection 22 times a year. Sometimes you wish that they'd go a little easier on you.

    Q. Are there moments when you have let it get to you? I was on vacation with my wife in Europe, and I checked the Web sites after the season finale and three people really hated it. So I'm walking around Rome with my wife not talking, and she asks: `Why are you in a bad mood?' She told me: 'That's crazy that you are letting this zap one iota of fun from this trip,' and she whacked me upside the head. It's true. I'm guilty of brooding a bit too much every so often, but as I've gotten more experience and wiser with running of show, I've come to appreciate it. A friend describes it as a `white-collar problem to have,' and I think it's a great problem to have fans that are obsessed, and keep pushing you to be better.

    Q. Does the CW network have an appreciation for the show's cult following? I think they do. There's an issue out there among fans about the amount of promotion we receive. The reality is, the network doesn't have a lot of money for promotion and we aren't the only ones on the CW who are kicking and screaming for more promotion. The "Smallville" guys, the "Reaper" guys, they're also screaming. It's a network wide issue. I don't believe in my heart that it's because the network is playing favorites. It truly is the case of this being a smaller network and it's just getting started and doesn't have the money to promote all its shows. Now, they are trying to push their new shows and the older shows just aren't getting the same amount of marketing. I remember when we first came out, we got an insane amount of marketing for our launch and it continued that year at the expense of every show on the network. I'm philosophical about it.

    Q. If the show has such a following, why does it still get such low ratings? We are doing solid in the ratings. We are not burning the house down, but we are doing enough to hold our own. We are second only to "Smallville" among the network's scripted shows. We have three million fans, and they are loyal to a fault. No matter what competition we are up against, no matter what time we're on, these three million people just show up. We are Steady Eddy with ratings year round. But again, it is a unique phenomenon that has only recently developed -- that a small community of three million can be so vocal online. If you go onto YouTube, they have a thousand videos they've made on "Supernatural." I don't know why certain things connect with people. But there's something about "Supernatural" that connects creatively and emotionally and makes them latch on. They want to use it as an expression to make videos and tell stories.

    Q. So what is the hook that grabs this diverse group? The heart of the show is family drama, and maybe that's another way people connect. I've had people approach me and say they've been through stuff we've dealt with or lost family members, or someone they know is sick, and "Supernatural" provided comfort. At its heart, it's a show about family, and a family sticking together in adversity.

    Q. Have you ever logged onto the Web sites and communicated with fans? I've never communicated with them, even under an alias. But I've been on the board for hours. The only time I go on is immediately after an episode airs. It's interesting to hear what they say. They are intelligent and have a lot of insights about the show. An hour a week is a good, healthy amount. I was spending three to four hours weekly reading, and that's not healthy.

    Q. You won't know for sure until May about a fourth season, right? Yes, I'm fairly confident there will be one. I'm never 100 percent confident. We are a bubble show. We've never gotten the kind of ratings that would knock us out of the park and guarantee our return. At the end of every year, we've had to fight for our return a little bit. But this year, I think we've been doing solid in an impossible time slot. Plus, I think the network is really interested in the show for business reasons. We're nearing the kind of (episode) numbers you need for syndication, which we would hit next year. And we do well internationally for them, so there's a good chance for those reasons we'd be back.

We have a bit of a wait, but there are 4 more episodes in Season 3:

    Episode 13 - April 24th
    Episode 14 - May 1st
    Episode 15 - May 8th
    Episode 16 (Season Finale) - May 15th
