I know there's a joke in there somewhere between 'protein' and 'pants pulled down' but I'm just not seeing it. :(

    Why are you shouting?

Just get NutritionX's Big Whey. It'll last a lifetime. http://pronutrition.ie/products.php?action=product&id=6

And don't worry there's no creatine in it. So don't worry about it sneaking out of the tub at night and killing you and everyone you love....

    classic

but yeah I have tried a few and Big Whey is very good, mixes well, which I just take for granted now but I had one brand before and it mixed so badly you'd be drinking lumps of it. Also Big Whey mixed with milk is actually nice tasting. Its made in a factory in Shannon in Clare which is about a half hour from my house. Wonder would they sell to me direct

Why single out creatine by the way? Do you have a bad reaction to it?

    Thinking the very same myself

The only con I have ever experienced is if I mix it with a protein shake, the protein shake taste odd. Cant understand that really as on its on its practically tasteless.

newby as you have read up on creatine you know that it is in meat. So by eating meat you are taking in creatine anyway

Still its good to see that you are researching what you put in your body, don't mind us. Just get sick of creatine bashing in the media n stuff

I have a con: Water retention. A lot of people need to make a specific weight for a sport, and storing extra water wont help that too much.

Beyond that, I don't know too much tbh. That was enough to put me off.

Water weight's very easy to drop before a comp tho. And I've always found a week off without creatine's enough to get the stored water right down anyway!

That could be a pro to some people. I drink a lot and can get dehydrated, so I expect it might help that a little?

Are there actually any "anti-diuretics" that can be taken to stop dehydration with alcohol?

That is very different to my experience. I find with taking creatine that within a week of starting my weigh will shoot up by 5-7lbs. When I come off creatine it takes about 3-4 weeks for my weight to drop, then it drops quite suddenly by the same 5-7lbs.

I went back on creatine recently, I also found that my lifts improved dramatically a couple of weeks after the weight gain. I wonder if its just the creatine, I hope not. I have just come off creatine in the last two weeks, I haven't lost an once yet and my lifts are still going up. I wounder if I will be able to hang on the the strengh when my weight drops?

I'm not rubishing your comment by the way, I know many people have very different responses to creatine. I seem to have quite a profound response however I'm not convinced the weight gain (3-4% in my case) is matched by the strength gain (much harder to isolate and measure).

Are you actively trying to drop the water or just passively waiting for it come off of it's own accord tho?

    Completely passive.

I wouldn't have thought that you could actively extract the 5-7lb of creatine water too easily though. I know I can get quite dehydratyed from time to time but I never drop anywhere near my off creatine baseline.
