    Alkaline trio: Agony and Irony

Have had this album on a good bit in the car recently and not sure what to make of it. Has some good songs but nothing compared to their earlier stuff...maybe it's time to accept my favourite band are going in a different direction.

First listen and I'm going to agree with you.

Hey, what's that YMSS EP like? I only have Good Nature, which I really love, and I've heard a bit of their older YMSS stuff and it sounds a lot different, more post-rock and abstract.

i've only got homeless musics, ores ep and the hurrah ep.

can't fault a track on them.

Regarding the new album, the name change was apt. It's really bouncy and melodic, the vocals are amazingly different. It has this immaturity and infectious quality. The lyrics are off the wall, e.g "Teenage antics make paragons of animal behaviour and these teenage antics..." It's odd, but for their first album proper, they really aren't taking it seriously at all.

Btw, this Oceansize album is among the best things I've heard in a long time.

Oh, and Cremo, I saw that Youthmovies album in Zavvi in Cork, so I'll assume it's available in a Zavvi near you.

I Can't Feel My Hand Anymore, It's Alright, Sleep Tight - múm

Were absolutely mind blowing at Mantua. I had doubts over whether they could pull off a live show or not but all notions were dispelled when they struck that first note. By accident I wandered into some tent to fix me wellies and they came in a few minutes later rehearsing unplugged before they hit the stage. Will definetly have to see them again some time.

Right now I am listening to the Dredd Song by The Cure (brilliant song). Been practising on my keyboard today and am now taking a break. Music will get louder later on as Disturbed, Nightwish, Hammerfall and Dragonforce are on the menu. :)
