Pink Flyod- Wish You Were Here

Only got into vinyl this year, still have everything I bought on CD since the start of 90's but haven't bought many in last few years as I mostly just listen to spotify all the time.

Spotify ironically has got me much more into 60's and 70's bands so happy to buy albums I never had on CD. Have a picked fair bit of Dylan, Led Zep and Beatles vinyl now. Slower to rebuy ones I have on CD but have picked a few of my all time favourite albums. Always been one for listening to albums from start to finish even on streaming but there really is something nice about the ritual of putting a vinyl on.

    The Long Winters

not a lot of American music from the 2000s decade that I happen to like but discovered this artist / band lately and definitely a welcome addition

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,716 ✭✭✭NewbridgeIR

    Both are great

I listen to records and CDs every day. I've been buying both formats since 1981 and 1986 respectively without ever stopping. It's never been either / or for me. Spotify is grand but doesn't compare IMHO.

Zooropa 30th Anniversary edition, Very Lemon! Second album I've bought on tape, CD and now vinyl the other being Achtung Baby.

I still rank Stay (Faraway, So close) as one their best and most underrated songs.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,716 ✭✭✭NewbridgeIR

    Nice reissue.

I remember a couple of weeks before the album came out. I asked my local shop to order me a vinyl copy. On release day, I called to collect it.

"So how many vinyl copies did you get in?"

"Two - another guy also asked about one last week"

"As a matter of interest, how many CDs and tapes?"

    "300 CDs, 150 cassettes"

Around three weeks later, I saw a vinyl copy of Zooropa behind the counter.

"Did that other guy not pick it up or did you get more in?"

"He rang to say he changed his mind and took it on CD instead"

I ended up buying that copy as well.

    How times have changed.
