Here's the best timetable I can put together:
21:00-RTE 2 , coverage starts of the John Duddy v Howard Eastman card .
I reckon Duddy won't be fighting till about 10 so they'll probably show either Paul McCloskey or Stephen Haughian's fight first and both are taking a big step up so that will be interesting . Martin Lindsay is also on the undercard and Andrew Murray(who fights James Gorman for the Irish-Light-Welterweight title)

21:55-ITV 1 , I hope to god Khan's fight with Earl doesn't start till at least 10:30 but I get the feeling it will be the first fight on .

23:00-Sky Box Office(British part of the undercard)
Jamie McDonnel v Chris Edwards- vacant British Super-Flyweight title
Gary Woolcombe v Marcus Portman- vacant British Light-Middleweight title
Jason Booth v Matthew Edmonds- vacant Commonwealth Bantamweight title
Ali Nuumbeme v Craig Watson- defense of Commonwealth Welterweight title for Nuumbembe

02:00-Sky Box Office(and we're off to the States)
    Wes Ferguson v Edner Cherry
Daniel Ponce De Leon v Eduardo Escobedo-WBO Welterweight title
    Jeff Lacy v Peter Manfredo
Floyd Mayweather v Ricky Hatton(about 04:00) WBC Welterweight title and Ring Welterweight title .

Stream for the Switzerland card http://sport.ard.de/sp/boxen/news200...xen_071203.jsp with Arthur Abraham defending his Middleweight title against Wayne Elcock , Danillo Haussler taking on Christian Sanavia for Sanavia's European Super-Middleweight belt and Danny Williams taking on Ukranian prospect Oleg Platov . This starts at 21:10 .

Tell me Jim was joking there when he said "I think that was little richard playing on the p.a. between rounds there"
It was "I Feel Good" by James brown, one of the best known songs of all time :).

    McCloskey looked good:)

Platov punched himself out against Williams and then Williams came on strong and looking close to taking Platov out . Then the Ukrainian suffered a cut and the ref and corner conspired to call it a no decision(stopping it before the 5th due to a cut from a headbutt does that)even though it should have went on and saving the German based fighter from a second and much more significant career defeat .

    Haussler and Sanavia drew
    Smith outpointed Cheka
    Francis outpointed Gbenga

As we saw Haughian lost a close SD to Grassellini

and McCloskey looked fantastic stopping disinterested former European champ Tontchev .

Duddy wins a 96-94 deserved decision , despite getting hit clean at times he showed improved defense against a very accurate fighter .

Abraham stopped Elcock in 5 .

Did you think so Big Ears?

I still think his defence is shocking and I cant see him ever being a world champion if he keeps it up.

I heard Khan looked excellent. Delighted for Duddy a massive improvement I think and a much needed fight. Fair play to Eastman he didn't just show up for the purse.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,784 ✭✭✭Dirk Gently

he did get caught a lot. I think he showed more that he's able to take good shots rathar than having a great defence although I don't think his defence is as bad as some people make out. I don't think many fighters would have been able to avoid getting hit by Eastman. Thanks again to Khan for getting his fight over with so I didn't end up channel hopping.

Hey I never said he had good defense , did you see the Yori Boy Campas fight ?........I'm just saying there is a big difference between trying to land your head on the gloves of ever shot your opponent throws(which seemed to be his old tactic) and what he was like tonight .

Don't underestimate how accurate Eastman is either .

good to see duddy winning but the performance doesnt augur well for the future. i think he should steeer clear of pavlik for the time being. hes too straight up and easy to hit

For Duddy's sake I hope Pavlik moves to Super Middleweight soon .
That would leave Duddy with a vacant WBO title shot against Gary Lockett which I think is a more than winnable fight for Duddy .

Of course I'm not advocating Duddy avoid the best forever but I do think he should take his take before going in with a Pavlik or a Taylor(who won't fight at Middle again) .

Chris Edwards beat Jamie McDonnel by SD(as I predicted :D) .

Starting to feel tired now so switching from beer to tea .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,004 ✭✭✭Big Ears

Marcus Portman is retired in the corner with a cut eye , Woolcombe was starting to get to him .

Woolcombe is going to find it very hard to keep that British title now , he's just not that good and with Facey , Pryce , Jones, Alexander and Rhodes and Small about(aswell as Moore if he loses his European challenge) he'll be lucky to make 1/2 defenses .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,004 ✭✭✭Big Ears

Nuumbembe stopped in the 9th against Watson with a cut eye , he just never got going and the cut certainly didn't help , it was very bad .

I think if he didn't have such a dark complexion(which can kind of mask the blood a bit) he would of been stopped sooner .

i had eastman winning that fight,...star-power kicked in.

if duddy threw what eastman did , it would have been a massive lob-sided points win for the derryman

Whoa! Was just thinking that Ferguson looked like he might take this if he kept outboxing and then BOOM!

Cant see Ricky landing a "CherryBomb" that flush....not to the head anyway! Would love to see a rib-breaker though :D

I disagree , I think Howard didn't throw enough big shots and most of the time he was just pawing with his jab .

Big knockout win for Cherry over Ferguson .

Jason Booth stopped Matthew Edmonds in 9/10 , Edmonds seemed to gas badly(not surprising from a 7 fight novice in a 12 rounder) .

Anyone see the previous fight? Daniel Ponce De Leon v Eduardo Escobedo? I'd like to direct that question primarily to the ringside judges - what the F fight were they watching? 118-110 on 1 card? should have been 2 round win to Escobedo nevermind losing 8 rounds!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 75 ✭✭delrun

Agree ponce got his ass kicked,God love ricky if he gets the same 3 judges.

Reckon ireland would have had a new world champ tonight if Ben would have been in there tonight against either

Fooooking typical. Just when everyone gets behind the English they go and remind us of why they irritate us at times. Booing the National Anthem. Bang out of order.

he isnt blockin very well. he is walking into mayweather and his speed

hatton just deducted a point, ref is a disgrace, if hatton doesn't knock him out he doesn't have a hope in hell of winning

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,971 ✭✭✭Holsten

I like his ass shakin'... haha.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,594 ✭✭✭Fozzy

Just started watchin this now, I'd heard that the ref has been known to be dodgy and it looks like it's true. Hatton didn't even land the strike he was deducted a point for

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,894 ✭✭✭evad_lhorg

my god. he took some beatin there. mayweather seems to be able to take control when he wants to.

    masterclass from mayweather!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 161 ✭✭Catcher86

Ricky is now between 7/1 and 10/1 on the exchanges.
    He needs the K.O.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,449 ✭✭✭Call Me Jimmy

And he ain't gonna get it... mayweather just too good

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,894 ✭✭✭evad_lhorg

Ko is all he can get now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,750 ✭✭✭romperstomper

he's needed the K.O. since that ref's name was picked from a hat (or a brown envelope).

what a pity to stay up to watch this to have it ruined by that prick!
