3 Week Christmas binge

I am going home for Christmas and will have absolutely no access to any gym or even weights.

Does anybody have any recommendations of any exercises that do not involve weights? I'll try to go for a run when I get the chance and when the weather is not that brutal and do some press ups, sit ups, dips and squats. Are there any other type of exercises that would target the shoulders, biceps and chest?

Also, my eating habits will go down hill. I am prepared for that and there will be an inhumane amount of alcohol consumed as I will be meeting up with friends and family I haven't seen in years.

    Any tips would be welcome.

    Um, don't indulge?

Christmas is a dodgy time of year as far as our eating habit are concerned, but don't forget that what you eat/ drink *is* your choice at the end of the day. No-one force feeds you whole tubs of Roses and Quality Street; there's nothing to stop you eating lots of lean turkey, with extra veg on the side instead of roasties,; and will your mates disown you if you drink a pint of water for every other drink when you're out?

It doesn't need to be all or nothing - ok, so you may not eat as clean as the rest of the year, but so what? Embrace the holiday and being home with friends and family, enjoy the time you have with them and look forward to getting back on the wagon when New Years' arrives.

It all comes down to your goals: if you have no immediate time goal, then you can allow yourself to pull back on the strictness of your lifestyle (within reason!!) knowing you have plenty of time to make up for it. Personally I have another competition at the end of January, so I know I have to watch my eating and drinking habits over the festive season. And honestly, it doesn't phase me one bit - I get more fun getting good results in my training than I do from the momentary pleasure and subsequent sickly feeling I get from stuffing my face with chocolate.

Go to a park, do sprint intervals, push ups, hindu squats, climb on monkey bars, bring little cousins with you and pick them up at every opportunity, offer to carry heavy stuff whenever the opportunity arises, use your imagination!!

But most of all, enjoy yourself ;)

I'm in the same boat as your mate, but after a year of Thai food I can't wait to get stuck into the xmas fare. My last fight is on christmas eve then I am practically running all the way home for me ma's grub. Including a pint of gravy with every meal. 'raaaaay!

Seriously though, as gem said, you don't have to lash the hell out of the junk. For example, when the gallons of booze are being poured you could just say, 'only the one, I'm driving' or when your offered your sixth selection box you could say, 'no thanks, I'm watching my weight' or even 'I'm diabetic, you insensitive bastard'. You may even get an extra present due to guilt on their part.

Pullups on the landing, if you have one. Inclined pushups, e.g. feet on the stairs, or on a bed or chair. When raised up it works you more, that is presuming you can knock out more than 12 in a row normal ones.

Last christmas I got by alright, I didnt eat too much so I would have to drink less too- i.e. if full of food I would lash down 10 pints not a bother, on a fairly empty stomach I am pissed on 5. I also cannot drink like I did in my teens/early 20's, christmas used to be a nonstop session everyday, simply cannot do it anymore.

Any sweets/chocs I get as presents I just bring to people houses and leave them there for parties or give it to their kids.

I purposefully timed a mass gaining period over the xmas (much more educated about it this time around last time I put on about 2 stone, a third of which was blubber, which I have spent a nice bit of time getting rid of). I don't have a sweet tooth (so resisting choclate isn't an issue) at all, but not being able to eat a proper xmas dinner would kill me.

I will probably do weights the hours before xmas dinner (getting weights related stuff for xmas, rings and more plates so will be dying to try them out)

Over the holidays or at the weekends i find it very awkward to eat properly due to my day being a little messed up but i have stuck it out. So on the holidays I want to be able to relax the food choices a bit
