    I cannot fúcking believe this.

I am desperate to see them and they play during the Leaving Cert.

I'm now vacating to cry and to rip up my LC timetable in a fit of angst.

Dont limit yourself to just the UK festivals, mainland europe festivals are so much cheaper, and in my view, so much better!

What did I tell ya? RATM for Werchter...looking highly likely now:D:D.

Some really decent bands there, wouldnt mind heading over, prob wont though.

Think I'll be keeping an eye on this one anyway...I agree with whoever said not to ignore europe for UK - went to Download this summer, was great fun and loved the line-up but everything was so expensive!!!

    🤪

Die Toten Hosen, Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Nightwish, In Flames, Motörhead, Bullet For My Valentine, Babyshambles, Dimmu Borgir, Sportfreunde Stiller, The Hellacopters

are all the confirmed bands, the first 3 are the headliners.

so its shaping up nicely, RATM and Metallica in one festival? nice:D

tickets are 125€ incl camping, and direct flights from Dublin - > Frankfurt is 90€ return incl taxes, thats arriving the 5th and leaving the 9th.

    anyone from boards going?

just go to https://www.kartenhaus.de/ (which is ticketmaster for germany) clicked on the english flag to make it all english.

then search for Rock Am Ring or Rock Im Park and click on the search results and then you can add tickets.
yeah thats what i did the first time exept it wont let me put tickets into the shopping cart for rock im park. thers still tickets available but it doesnt give me any oppertunity to buy them. i can however get rock am ring tickets!

i chose rock im park simply because of location. its a better 'touristy place' with a pop of halv a million, tyhe other place has no attractions and a population of 500 people

meh, its a festival that has like 80,000 people, i wont be looking for attractions or tourist sites.
yeah i know what you mean but me and my mates are gonna travel 4 a few days b4hand. it doesnt matter now anyway cuz we got our tickets for the ring. wer gona fly to amsterdam on the 3rd and make our way down stopping in colone and bonn

Yeah really mad to go to this meself, hope to get tickets & flights sorted after Christmas. Last time I checked the price of flights with Ryanair (2 days ago) from Dublin to Frankfurt Hann return was something like €62. Dirt cheap really considering a Download ticket is something like €230 (Youre the guy who went to Downloads too right?). I dont think the english section of the site had been done yet, wasnt last time I checked...

Here's an english page I found with a bit of info on it...
    http://www.rockamring.co.uk/

And theres also a couple of threads here about it
    http://www.efestivals.co.uk/forums/index.php?showforum=40

If anyone else finds any useful info in English it's be much appreciated if you could post it cheers...

I'll definetly be going to this. It's just a matter of how many of my friends will be there too. I 'spose I should wait a couple of days before buying my own tickets. >Click< Oooops! Yaaaahh! Fine, I'll wait but they better hurry up.

For me it's the competing lineup in PinkPop (which looks great also) that's putting people off. I'm kind of banking on the unannounced bands in the RockamRing tending toward heavier music. The pinky thing looks like fun too though. Oh. (Scurries off to check Slayer's tour schedule) I wonder would Tom Morello get his good buddy Serj interested? Hmmm.

Aye pinkpop looks pritty sweet with Metalica/foos/ratm headlining, festivals this year are going to be ace. if it wasnt so early i would be heading to it.

Rockamring does seem to be a bit on the heavy side for most of my friends though =/
I shot myself in the foot last night telling the girlfriend that Foos, Linkin Park and the Pumpkins would be playing in the Holland one. *I'd* like to go see bunches of obscure heavy German bands and Motorhead. Hopefully they'll release some more of the proposed lineup soon so a man can make an informed decision and start booking some cheap flights. I really think the RockamRing will turn out to be a far better gig but I don't have any solid information to base that assumption on. Also she didn't have a great time when we went to Berlin for Pearl Jam...

Looking like I could be making a trip over to Pinkpop next year. Its just such good price for the quality. And then some of us, along with others, shall be hopping over to Werchter aswell hopefully. Should be a fun summer:D

    Any website for Pink Pop?

Excuse my ignorance, but where is Pink Pop held, Germany? Really tempted to head to one of these, if I can get someone to come with me.

    pinkpop.nl

Thats all they have, its all in Dutch(for now anyway). Its in Holland, in Landgraff. Fly to Eindhoven, train down I think. Last years was €120 for three days, but it finishes early in the night, and starts late enough.

I got my tickets for the Rock am Ring. Now I'm looking at transport. The flights are still quite cheap. We'll likely be heading out with Ryanair on Friday morning and getting the train to Nuremberg. The only flight on Thursday is in the morning and I don't want to have to take the extra day off. Lufthansa and Airlingus both fly to Frankfurt but neither is any more convenient and both are more expensive.

Anyone else going to be on the 08:05 flight over? Also be careful which train you get from Frankfurt. The gig is in the Nuremberg ring which is north of the airport and about 80km away. The other Nurberg is east and about 250km away. Google maps etc will take you to the incorrect one when you type in Nuremberg.

Hmmm, maybe I will take that Thursday flight. The ring will be rife with huge tailbacks on the Friday I hear.

    2008 = teh w00t for music :D

And as if on cue, my winamp list just randomly shuffled into RATM: Fistful of Steel. I think it's telling me I must go see RATM (as if I needed told already ... pfffft)

    I'm having the same problem!

Pinkpop seems to be easier to get to from eindhoven.

If you get the ryanair flights to Frankfurt Hahn for RAR its seems the buses to koblenz aren't very often! but then the flights are around the 40e mark!

I know its a RAR thread but does anyone know if the campsite at pinkpop opens before noon of the first day of the festival?

yeah - Davis is doing a solo Euro tour........I wouldn't expect to hear anything from Korn for a long time, if ever.......it's only him and some hired hands now.........they'll wait for the reunion tour....

definitely a good crossbreed of bands on the lineups....
