    hya's,
Well I got a nice surprise this afternoon :D, turns out I was one of the 6 winners for the O’Briens competition.

The 6 winning photos will each be made into postcards, which will be available in O’Briens sandwich bars around the world from early 2008.
If you would like to receive a pack of your printed postcards, please also provide your postal address.
Your prize is a high quality digital camera, please advise us of a postal address for sending prize.

This was what the chose from my selection, bit baffled by it myself :)
any other boarders out there get selected ?

Good job. Can you now walk into an O'Briens and declare yourself one of their winners and claim free beverages and food?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,368 ✭✭✭Covey

Is there anywhere you can see the winners online?

Haven't checked my mail in days and it looks like I've won something as well.

Yeaaah, first time I've ever won anything photographically speaking.

Congrats and well done to both! It'll be quite something to see your photos as postcards in all the O'Briens shops.. Wonder what camera you will be getting?? For such a big company/competition they should provide something top quality..

PS Covey, post up the pic in question

Now that is just damn impressive!! Gorgeous.. Looks like something from a high class advertising shoot.. Brilliant..Where was it taken and how?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,368 ✭✭✭Covey

    Thanks Shep, taken in Naples.

The shopping centre had no tenants, some mafia problem I later heard.

Arrived with camera and all gathered round for the usual shot, which I've long since binned. Sat down and waited until they ignored me and started playing. Taken lying on the ground and getting some quare looks from the locals.

Taken with many people regards as the Canon crap kit lens 18-55.

I wish! Nah - didn't even enter (which is obviously why I didn't win...). I was remarking on how easily I include myself amongst all the talented photographers here when I've never won a thing in my life :D

I'll email the designer who did that page and ask him to fix it. It's "Davis" not "Davies" right?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 575 ✭✭✭Muineach

yep Davis, I sent an email off to the girl from O'Briens as well ;)

think they'd actually list the prize on the website,
will each receive a top of the range digital camera

In my mind this would be a min of a EOS 400D, of course will be interesting to see what they call top of the range,

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,368 ✭✭✭Covey

    Seems it's a Fuji S50

Can't find it anywhere so assume it's the F50 (though she repeated S twice).

    Hi all!

Congrats again to the winners! I stumbled upon this site while looking for more info about the results. Some of you may know me by my nick on pix.ie, which is Tigrrr.

I've checked my e-mail settings on pix.ie and they are correct (I got the 'added as contact' notification, at least), so why haven't I received any mail from the good folks at O'Briens? Is the fact that I'm in Malaysia have anything to do with it? Maybe they've decided that the satisfaction I get from being chosen is enough, rather than them spending so much on postage alone. :D

I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Please let me know when your cameras arrive, I want to see what I'm missing. :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,368 ✭✭✭Covey

I'll forward my mail to you. It has all the contact details. And congrtats of course.

    T.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10 Sharlini

Thank you, T! =) Perhaps now the Tigrrr will turn to 'Sharlini Nambiar' and I will get my 15 minutes of fame and glory! :D

[Edit] Amy got back to me and I've furnished the relevant details. Her first e-mail must have ended up in the spam folder or something. I don't remember seeing it before. I'll be happy with whatever camera I get. The 5MP Kodak EasyShare LS755 I've been using was a prize in a contest three years ago.

has anyone received a camera yet ? if so which is it ?
