Her family said it had been 'overwhelmed by the letters, blessings, gifts and prayers from people all over the country.'

The statement also said, 'we hope that you can continue to send your love to her as she journeys on.'

A 25-year-old woman has died following a collision between a car and a lorry on the N3 in Co Meath this morning.

Dunno was she hot though, so it mightn't matter.

Given that the OP hasn't been so kind as to provide a link, it seems to be real this time folks.

Any speculation on the cause of death will result in a ban.
Any abuse directed at the deceased or her friends and family will result in a ban.
Any abuse directed at other will result in a ban.

This thread should actually be locked by the moderators, can't believe what arrogant dicks there are posting such insensitive comments thinking they're bloody hilarious. Grow up you losers.

I left the post by Silverfish there because it puts a bit of perspective on things.

    It is completely on topic.

It's one comment and it's actually very relevant. Of course it's terribly sad that a young girl has lost her life - horrific for her family - but there are many other young deaths and they're not getting the same level of attention. Katy's family won't be bothered with the whole media thing. I've no doubt the very people with whom they'll find solace will be the other families who have lost a young person and who went unnoticed.

Irrespective of who she is or isn't or what anybody thinks of her, it's tragic that such a young life has been lost.

    RIP, Katie.

God it's such a tragedy. I never had much respect for what Katy did for a living but it's such a waste of a life and she was probably a nice person. Her poor family. It's so awful.

Same here. Tragic nonetheless, wouldn't wish it on anyone.

But I have to agree with silverfish to an extent, not just in this instance but many others.

I didn't know her, but that didn't stop me talking negatively about her in the past.
I guess now that the bigger picture has been thrown into focus I can see that she was a beautiful young woman in her prime, who obviously had a a whole lot of ambition and a good business brain. She made the most of what she had, and created a fairly successful career for herself. For that alone, the girl should be admired.
My thoughts are with her friends and family. May she Rest in Peace

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

I said this on the other thread and I'll repeat it here. Please keep in mind someone has died. Your own negative personal opinions, which are largely begruding ones based on an intolerance of her career and mere speculation of cause of death - which I might add, hardly harmed anyone here - should not be allowed to interfere with showing respect to the deceased. Just keep them to yourself, or talk about it in a less public place at the very least.
Like it or not we don't live in Utopia. We're all well aware of the way the world works at this stage. Like it or not, when people die, they leave behind a circle of mourning. For a celebrity, someone so in the public eye, regardless of for what reasons, or whether you perceive it as deserved it or not, they're connected to so many more people and it's that much more of a reminder to everyone that death is, simply put, real. No matter what way you look at it, a girl, a young one, has just died. I can only imagine her family reading some of these comments, personally I feel sick myself reading some of the crap.

If you can't make something immediately good, then what's wrong with making it less bad? You my friend, are simply making a bad situation worse, and achieving nothing for it. If you're so concerned about the fact that so many people die daily - and they do, and it's a good virtue to appreciate that, I credit - say a prayer in your spare time, for even if they're not commemorated on an online forum, it doesn't mean they aren't mourned.

Completely disagree, and there is no need to make cynical comments about any tragic death. Being 'hot' is not relevant but indicative of the all too pervasive perverted comments to be found on Boards. The tragic death of a pregnant Mother earlier today has nothing whatsoever to do with the death of kathy French. A socialite, model etc etc is not the point. The point is there are two deaths and respect should be extended to both.

Your sense of perspective is flawed and the point that Silverfish is a Mod should not be missed. But that's hardly new around here.

I think you missed the point.

The only reason there are threads about Katy is because she was 'hot'

Nobody cares about some poor girl dying in a crash, because she wasn't a model.

And I think that's just ****ty.

Think you missed the point Sonnenblumen. I read that as 'the tragic death of this other woman will not get the anything approaching the coverage of Katy French's untimely passing, cos she may not necessarily be hot and relatively well known round these here isles'

I got banned for saying something on the celebs and showbix board yesterday that was really similar to what that mod just said.

Anyway its awful sad, I read a bit of her interviews over the last couple of days and she actually a very clever girl and wasn't afraid to speak her mind. I always respect that in people. So I will try not to judge people over their choice in occupation in future. RIP Katy.

Nah. You're wrong mate. It's because she's in the public domain day in day out.I suppose you could call her a celeb and It's like you know her. I mean if an ugly celeb died he/she would get the same i'd imagine.

Are people honestly whinging that something that happens to a celebrity gets media coverage? A celebrity is a celebrity because people know who they are.

I completely got your stupid point. Why not leave your hang-ups on 'hot' to the side and handle the situation with more appropriate sensitivity. I'm aware of the deaths today of two Irish women and death is painful for both families.

Your facile 'hot' point is neither helpful nor considerate but reflects msierably on you.

Why ""? It hasn't been proven so therefore it could be a blatant fallacy? Whether it's likely or not isn't the point. There's no evidence yet, the investigation is ongoing.
And if it's untrue: while it's not defamatory any more, it's still a major allegation and will only serve to further compound her family's already unimaginable grief.

The poor sweet girl, may she rest in peace.

And may god give her family the strenght to deal with this.
