    Hey Ladies,

    Can I ask something..

I've seen alot of people talking about Benefit make up, what's so great about it? I've heard one or two friends talk about it too but never asked.

    Is it reasonably priced?
Also do they do mineral foundations?

I love benefit make up, I dont use the foundation, i use benetint cheek stain its brill, i use highbeam highlighter its so nice. Their badgal mascara is lovely no clumps lasts all day, i use dallas bronzer their lipstick and lipliner.
Oh and bathina is brilliant its like a body shimmer it is fab over a tan or even just by itself it gives a lovely glow to the skin.
Their pricing is good as the makeup lasts for ages, my boyfriend bought me loads for xmas last year and I am still using it and they are most still half full, and i wear makeup everyday.

It's not reasonably priced here, in fact it's way over priced. It's not the usual make up I love, it's the special things like:
High beam - a great highlighter, adds an extra bit of glam for nights out.
Dr. Feelgood is like a primer on your skin that I put under make up, makes your skin feel so silky smooth and lasts the night.

If you can get it in America you're better off, it tends to be half the price over there. Test out some of their products in BT2 and order them over the net. http://www.benefitcosmetics.com/gp/home.html

God, I love Benefit stuff so much. Dandelion is the only blusher I've ever found that actually makes me look healthy and glowing. Also have Realness of Concealness (awesome but goes too fast) and Justine Case (Also good but again, goes too fast) so that's loads of little samples of some of their best things. Lemon-Aid and the Bo-ing concealer are great for making eyes look wide awake.

The reason why everyone raves about it is just because it's really good stuff and it's hard to go wrong with it.

It's absolutely fantabulous stuff.. And yes, way cheaper on their site or in the US - and I mean wayyyyyy cheaper..

I love bad gal mascara, dandelion, 10, high beam, hollywood glow. Seemingly their jiffy tan is great too.

They have lots of little compact gift sets too which make great Chrimbo pressies - start dropping hints now!!

The BeneFit stuff is really nice, but expensive.

The Body Shop have their own version of the BeneTint lip and cheek stain. It works just as well but is considerably cheaper (and more slimline packaging means its more handbag-friendly).

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,089 ✭✭✭fuzzywiggle

I hate benfefit. Got that Bad Gal eyeliner a few years ago and it was pure rubblish..stayed on all of 20 minutes I'd say! Had that Dandelion powder..which was too glittery. And High Beam highlighter which never gave a subtle look! You put a little on and you'd hardly noticed it.. put a bit more on and it was over the top.

MAC all the way. I wear nothing else!

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 16,186 ✭✭✭✭Maple

i use High Beam and thats all. Not a fan of their stuff, that cheek tint stuff is rubbish.

MAC / Bobbi Brown all the way.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 582 ✭✭✭Lola123

The mascara is brill as are some of the blushers (I liked dandelion, but thought dallas was a bit to dark). Haven't found the eyeshadows and lip sticks too great (mac has way better staying power).
High beam is actually nice if you put it just under ur eyebrow but looks a bit weird sometimes on your cheeks (which is where you're supposed to use it i think!)
The concealers and the ooh la lift are good too.

Defo get the stuff of the internet though..... WAY cheaper!!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 510 ✭✭✭LuckyStar

The Benetint is amazing, I use it every morning, gives the perfect glow! You only need the tiniest bit so it lasts ages, I got my bottle in June and have barely made a dent in it!!!

And Benefit packaging is soooo pretty...

Sooo... do they do a mineral foundation then?

And as for Mac, i think i'd be only interested in their eyeshadows. I've looked at the foundations before and they seem quite heavy, maybe it was just the type i was looking at but i hate that obviousness of wearing foundation!

no mineral foundation. But if you find some good stuff let me know.;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,915 ✭✭✭Siogfinsceal

Its my favourite range along with urban decay. the products are a bit dear but worth it. The packaging is cute, the products are good quality (e.g. eye shadow that does not crease) and it lasts a good while. Their hula bronzer is my life saver no matter how pale or tired I look it makes me look healthy! I use Hula bronzer, dallas blusher, big beautiful eyes, wonderlift, eyeshadows, some kinda gorgus (foundation but not foundation i love it).

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,421 ✭✭✭bluedolphin

...some kinda gorgus (foundation but not foundation i love it)...

I love this too! I got in the States this summer and I find it fantastic - really good for everyday, subtle wear. Does anyone know if it's available here in BT's or wherever? I haven't checked tbh, but I'm worried that I won't be able to replace the one I have and I've just emerged onto the bottom of the dish! (That's daily use pretty much since the start of Sept!)...

I like Benefit for the 'extras' like Some Kinda Gorgeous, Dr Feelgood and Dallas... wouldn't buy foundation there though, prefer Clinique.

I think Benefit foundation is appalling. I've tried the playsticks, they look like drag queen foundation when on and they cake, 'some kinda gorgeous' is rubbish, may as well not be wearing any foundation its so subtle.

I love the powders, Georgia is my favourite. Bad Gal liner pencil is fantastic. THeir mascara is crap, Maybelline is 1/3 the price and ten times better.

I think that's the point of it! Cos I wear it pretty much most days because it's like that; it gives a more sheer look to the face without wearing foundation or anything, so it's fine for a subtle, natural look. I usually wear compact powder over it and it looks fine.

But I agree - don't like their foundation range.

OMG stay away....so overated! Go clinique, real natural looking and its actually good for your skin. :D

What's the point in wearing it then? It makes zero difference to your skin. Total case of 'emperors new clothes' I think!

That's a myth. Clinique is no 'better' for you skin than MAC or any other makeup. Any time I tried clinique products I got spots and I never ordinarily get spots.

How dare thee talk of highbeam in such a way :) It is without a doubt the best piece of make up ever invented. Its looks fantabuolous on everyone!
Sooo... do they do a mineral foundation then?
I wouldnt use benefits foundation, there not great. Their hoola bronzer is without a doubt the best on the market though.I also use their lip beads and balm, makes your lips luscious!

I brought the clinique anti blemish kit their two months ago. After a week of using it my face had broken out in these wierd boils.Clinique stuff is way too harsh for skin I think

    Me too!

I ordered a load of stuff from the Benefit website two weeks ago and it hasn't arrived yet. Half it is Christmas presents and the other half is Christmas presents for me! :) I've had emails from the site every few days since giving me codes for free international shipping and free stuff with orders over $50/100 etc, I'm so mad, why didn't I sign up to the site and wait a few days before making my gigantic order!!!

At vastly inflated prices. Benefit is not top end makeup in the US, but for some reason it is here.

I got caught with customs, wouldn't bother again as it just didnt work out as well as I thought. I swapped all the stuff anyway!
I never got the excitment over Benefit, I think its the multi-use products, great in theory but never work as well for individual purposes. I find the brand doesnt stay on well, have a wide enough colour range, are over priced and arnt pigmented enough. The packaging is cool though!

I use the High Beam as a primer for eyeshadow, makes them stay on much better :)

anything else I have no use for, but the sister loves it, think she owns everything by them and swears by them!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,846 ✭✭✭✭eth0_

    Speaking of primers.
Smashbox photofinish is the most amazing product I have ever used. Makeup stays perfect almost all day.

High Beam is amazing. I also love Bad Gal mascara & eyeliner pencil. <33

Has anyone tried the Dr Feelgood? Cos i don't think it's all that great. It kind of flakes and doesnt rub in all that well!

Unless i am doing something totally wrong with it? :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47 CALI

I just lightly with the sponge rub Dr Feelgood around my face...i wouldn't be rubbing it in. Don't think I can put foundation on without it anymore! Used Benefit playsticks but found they ran out very quickly. Using Bobbi Brown liquid foundation now and love it-dioesn't look heavy. I am finding it hard to get a good concealer though for under the eyes....Glad to read there are other people who get spots from Clinque-thought it was just me as people used to rave about their stuff.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 116 ✭✭*tOpLaSs

    Benefit is my favourite =]

Although I wouldn't recommend the tinted moisturiser "You Rebel"
But I use the Bad Gal stuff, Hollywood Glow, High Beam, Benetint, That Gal, Dr. Feelgood..
    It's great
    =D

I love this make-up I use the Hight Beam highligther, the Hula Powder and the You Rebel Tinted Moisturiser I used to use the Mac foundation but find this better,it is lovely and light and it lasts all day. Perfect for those who like the natural look.

It is defo worth the money then again it depends on what your budget is.;)

Some products are fantastic. Hollywood Glo is great on your cheekbones, and Lemon Aid is superb for making your eyes look that little bit fresher.

On the other hand, their Badgirl mascara is terrible. Clumps all over the place.

So like every brand, there's good and bad, you'll just have to find the products that suit you.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 575 ✭✭✭Strokesfan

I LOVE Benefit Make-up you can get it on www.hqhair.com too..

I use, Highbeam under my eyebrows and in around the inner corner of my eye..
Bad Gal navy blue mascare (love this)
    Dandelion Blusher
Bathina Body so Fine (shimmer for arms/legs...smells divine)
Got the lipgloss kit for christmas, excellent glosses that stay on.
Also bought the irredescent kit have a couple of their other products in my make-up bag.

The realness of concealness set is a lifesaver.
I adore their bad gal mascara
I'm not terribly impressed by the Dr Feelgood balm though.

The bad gal mascara is no good if you wear contacts - far too much fibre. I find Max Factor 2000 Calories to be the best for this.

Other products are really good - Lemonaid, High Beam (essential!), Realness of Concealness, Hollywood Glow (for the face, not the body. I saw a photo of myself woth it on my shoulders and it was so shiny, I looked like the Tin Man!).

Mines the exact same. It was really hard to get it without it coming off clunky. I don't think its as good as everyone says. Although my house mate, determined to show the difference it made to her, did up half her face (including with that foundation thing that isn't really a foundation). Made NO difference (except around the eyes which she had made purple).

I always found Dandelion kinda pointless

Does anyone use Miss Popularity? I tried it as a highlighter on my brow bone in BT one day and I thought it looked nice but was a bit messy to apply ie I had little sparkles on my cheeks for the rest of the day that had fallen down when applying.. Is it supposed to be so flakey or was it just cause it was a sample bottle and had dried up or something??

I ordered from Benefit.com on the 14th of December and it came yesterday!! Huge brown box for two products - slipped through the customs net by the looks of things (yipeee)...

Got "that gal" face primer and High beam - gorgeous products. Their stuff is fab.

Just wondering with the High Beam it says to use over foundation. I normally put bronzing powder over my foundation so just wondering if I should replace that with High Beam instead of using both? I don't want to look caked with make up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,019 ✭✭✭SexyD4Lady

I use both. Tone the bronzer down, maybe, if you normally use a fair bit- just a dusting on the apples of your cheeks, the top of your forehead, nose and a tiny bit on your chin. Looks more natural, and the Highbeam on your cheekbones and browbones looks lovely with that.
