Weighing Scales query!

    I've noticed over the last few week that if I weigh myself both before and after a workout in the gym that I always seem to weigh more after working out than I did before it. My workout consists of 30mins cardio and weight training. The difference is generally between 4 and 6 lbs. Does anybody know why this is happening? And for an accurate measure, should I weigh myself before or afterwards?

    i weight myself once a day, when i get up before i eat. So it gives me a constant picture of my weight (and hopefully weight loss). I have found it the other way in the past, I'd be heavier before a work out than after so that why i moved to a once a day measure in the am

    OP, exercise cause fluids to move around your body and will affect your weight, esp if you have been drinking a lot of water while exercising, etc. When I wake up in the morning my belly looks pleasingly flat, but after an evening workout it is fat!

    I would weigh yourself first thing in the morning (before eating or drinking) to get the truest reading of your weight. Also bear in mind that if you have any muscle mass this will affect the reading.

    For me, the best indicator by FAR is how I look in the mirror first thing in the mornin.

    I agree the best time to weight yourself is the morning time, before you eat\shower and after a little bathroom visit......

    Thank God, I thought it was just me imagining things! I'm the same, and get pretty ticked off when the old belly seems bulgy.

    Thanks, at least I know there's a reason why. I would drink about a litre and a half or so of water when I'm working out, and I knew that might have some impact, but I didnt think it could have that much!

    Does muscle mass affect it much? Like Nutzzz, I used to weigh more before a work out (anything up to 4lbs less) when I started out about 6weeks ago but it began to equalise and now reversed! Is that a sign I'm adding muscle mass. I've still got a lot of extra weight on so I havnt been able to see much improvement in muscle tone, although I have lost about a stone.
