Iqon are gone into examinership, so I'd wonder what technical support will be available on these PCs in say 6 months time!

I can't even spell 'tommorrow' let alone list the specs (I've no scanner)

Cheapest laptop is Acer Aspire 5051AWXMi (amd turion mk-36 2ghz, 1gb ram,120gb hard drive, dvd-rw, integrated sound and graphics....) €549 (get €164.70 back)

Dearest laptop Iqon with intel core tm2 duo T5200 processor €899

On the desktops there's an Iqon TSC 2053VX (pentium dual core 2140, 2gb ram,250gb sata,22in widescreen, dvdrw dl,optical mouse and keyboard,7 in 1 card reader, speakers, integrated graphics, modem and a bit of software) €699 (get €209.70 back) They have the same spec with 20inch monitor for €599.

The Acer desktops have Intel P4 631 processors 1gb ram and 250gb hard drive for €599.

Remember that iqon is going into liquidation, so I'm not sure how that would affect your warranty...

Examinership not Liquidation. There is a difference.

I saw Jameson for less than €20 yesterday, on the way out some old biddy had a trolly with 6 bottles of Jameson and nothing else :D In fairness though, it was the first thing you see when you walk in the door so im sure she bought something else :D

This is a great deal - but do any of the tescos actually have a decent stock of computers? Artane had only a few Iqons left. I was hoping to see that 14'' Acer.

Probably the same tech support that they always had available, ie. fcuk all.

30% back on clubcard on all computers , laptops and printers.

This clubcard thing is a pain. I got a PS3 in October there when it was what 50% back or something. The vouchers arrived alright, but they're all for 50quid. And there's no cash back, which means that everytime i use them I have to spend at least 50 quid. fair enough if you've a big family or you're getting dvd's or whatnot, but my weekly shop comes nowhere near that. just a warning for y'all.

How do tou manage to have a weekly shop of less than 50 euro? Six bottles of wine and six bottles of the wheat beer put me well over the 50 quid before I even start to look at food.

If you're in Dublin and want to get cash for them, I'll give you 80 cent in the Euro for them :p

Fair play to that, however would you not need his clubcard?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 642 ✭✭✭red_fox

Yes I think you need the matching clubcard, but you can buy gift cards to the value of the vouchers and those can be used by anyone.

That's what I did with my Wii vouchers.

yeah, the xmas drink will take up a goodly amount of these poxy vouchers, and after that, i'll be buying presents from them - hope my mother likes toasters, she's getting 3 of them.

Any talk of Tescos doing a similar deal on other Electronics before Chrimbo?
Need to get a DVD Recorder.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 667 ✭✭✭spongbob

i think ya can get away with out having the actual card to hand If ya ask the girl serving you to take the card number printed on the vouchour

i remember buying a laptop the time they had 50% back in the club mailing, i got somthing like 400 euro worth of vouchours, I split with my mam and dad.. my dad explained the card situation and it was no probs

come to think of it it was this time last year i got them :D

Yea, Im in the same boat, just a student, so I would have a big weekly shop at all. Are the vouchers any good? Can I sell them to like family or something. My sister does a big weekly shop

    The vouchers are fine:

You can buy food with them in tescos, and they give you cash change for them (at least they do in tesco ballybrack). ive bought something for a five with the voucher and been given 45 euro cash in change. although im sure i would get food worth 50 either.

they dont give change in the petrol station in dundrum though, but if you get 50 euro worth of petrol your sorted. (or as i did, 49 euro and some milk).

That's great irlpotato I didn't realise they gave cash change for Tesco Clubcard Vouchers. I wonder if this is nationwide or just in Ballybrack? I was under the impression they never gave cash change for them.

I saw a nice Acer laptop (box) today in Tesco, with a lot of useful accessories included (ie. number keypad, mouse, bag etc...) good package, I think it was €599. It would have been well worth it with 30% back.

Yeah, i took yesterday 14'' Acer and it looks briliant deal considering the price. Sure you need some extra memory for the Vista but in general it's worth every penny. ;)

Tesco Ballybrack seem do be doing things out of the norm then.
    16. Tesco Clubcard Vouchers and product coupons can be used up until expiry date shown on the Vouchers and product coupons. Vouchers will be redeemable on qualifying purchases at Tesco stores in the Republic of Ireland and will not be exchangeable for cash or gift vouchers unless otherwise stated and no change will be given. Tesco Clubcard Vouchers are no redeemable in conjunction with An Post National Lottery purchases.
    17. Tesco Clubcard Vouchers can only be used in-store when presented in conjunction with a Tesco Clubcard bearing the same number.

Good result as I've spent €43 odd off with a €50 voucher and got back
    a €5 voucher and the change :(.
    Probably depends on the branch.

I'd say Tesco Ballybrack will be a little busier from now on  (crowds descend on Tesco Ballybrack with hundreds in Clubcard vouchers clenched in sweaty palms. )

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39 irlpotato

huh. that's weird. I've definitely gotten cash change out of 50 euro vouchers twice (x box 360 50% back thing). I can't remember if it was the same cashier though..the last time it was a young guy. although thats probably not that helpful.

oh, and if you are racing to tesco ballybrack, thursday is triple points night. Ive always wondered what happens if you get one of those 50% back deals on triple points night..

Triple points and 50% back? I'd say if you spent €100 you'd probably get 300 points (€3 voucher) and €50 in Clubcard Vouchers. Tesco always seem very obliging when it comes to giving a double whammy, but I think the 30-50% back offers only happen at the weekend now. :(
