No discussion in the pics thread so I thought this deservied a thread of it's own.
Painted my M4 today. Tried to copy multicam. It's a first effort but I'm reasonably happy with the result. Sorry about the crap pic quality.

Defender dude that is one of the nicest jobs I've seen on a gun let alone an Irish gun.

Was looking at this last night and my girlfriend was passing by the computer screen
and said are you looking at clothes again! she did not even notice the AEG at all
until I pointed it out to her.

Not a fan of camo being sprayed on stuff but I must say its a lovely paint job.

    Dude, that is seriously impressive.

Any chance of a DPM coat on my FAMAS?

As a matter of interest, is there a limit to what you can do? In terms of size/material etc being coated?

    :o:owow, thanks guys!:o:o

I have to paint a SCAR for Neil C. first, then paint Gatlings AEG and mask but
I am willing to help you guys paint whatever camo job you desire. The
multicam took about 14/16 hours. 5 differerent colours - all in 2k polyurethane, then the whole AEG lacqred in matt 2K lacquer.

I am trying to match as many colours as I can atm. When you look at them initially they look ok but it's not until you actually spray them that you see the colours can be way off. I'd say to match a specific uniform colour - you'd need to give me a hat or something to get a good match first.

There's really no limit to what substrates (wood, palstics, metals etc...)can be sprayed - just a case of getting the right paint system, however - some funny plastics such as polypropelyne and nylon's are a pain. I have a specific primer on its way to me for these, so all eventualaties should be covered. (forgive the sad pun):p

    Thanks again.

    I'm afraid I dont. Trade Secret:D:D:D

Only kidding, I didnt have a camera with me when I was doing the work but it did occur to me that I should be recording the work process. Sry.

The right paint and colour match is the trick - the actual spraying is just random masks and blow-in's.

I will try record the next jobs - however the spray zone/area is an explosion hazzard zone (no phones, cameras etc..) so may not be very detailed but should be good enough.

I did strip the gun down totally - easier for spraying/handling, and helps with the random'ness of the pattern too I expect.
That said, I sprayed my mp5k in a similar pattern and left it complete - just plugged the barrell. It looks alright too - but being small it was easy to manage.

I prefer defenders one, rather than just random parern it was actually done to match the camo jacket, and very closely at that.,

Nice piece but to be honest that's a hell of a lot easier than multicam.
