any one gonna be there this weekend?

"Ireland premiers airsoft site ",sorry that title belongs to HRTA not
    airsoft command

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,172 ✭✭✭Mweelrea

"Premier" seems to be thrown around alot lately in all things airsoft.

indeed, premier would mean the first, in this case it's incorrect use of the word, longford's premier airsoft site, yes, not ireland's though :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 519 ✭✭✭Crave

it does seem better set up though. if the place in the vid is the site :p

Have you played at them all?

I've played Drogheda G-Tac and HRTA and I'd also put Drogheda in first place. In my even more humble opinion.

I also liked the look of Skirmish Airsoft Command but there has not been a lot of activity by the OP since the thread opened.

Would certainly go up there for a look.

WE could organise a bus up and get a good group if the OP ok's it.

premier may also be used with regrads being the first in rank or degree, not necessarily time.

the only one who can judge are us the skirmishers, not title throwers for all we know it could be a rubbish dump

after looking at the videos on youtube of HRTA, that place looks very much like a rubbish dump.
i know it will probably upset a lot of people here who dont have anywhere better place to play but it looks like a complete joke.
a few pallets just thrown sporadically around the place and some scrap Hiaces and ather assorted junk doesnt exactly inspire me with much of a realistic combat situation.
a JCB would work wonders for the site.

seems you have alot of experience of real combat and Airsoft then , its not the props ,but the skirmishers and the games that make a site

    yes and no,

It all comes down to the players, But a good site makes it even better,

yes HRTA is gone down hill, I wasnt there when it first opened but after playing up in D.A.G, I have to say HRTA is lacking alot,

have to agree with the above comment, a good site and realistic props will only enhance the experience, if it didnt there wouldnt be such a market generated around them, maybe not in ireland just yet, but definitely the UK and continent, and most certainly the US, even if they do get a little carried away.
good players can only get you so far.

as you say we have gone down hill, but dont forget i the frist to go up that hill when there was some thing like only 24 airsofters in ireland, and a lot of the weekends when no airsofters came, but i had to pay the rent, but now it is a little easer as there a lot of airsofters to cover the rent, but i owe lot of money so it is hard for me to get things done on my site, but if i could open a new site tomorrow the numbers are ther, and it would pay for it self, but i dont have that luxery as i was the frist to open.
    paul.

Nonex: Ure site was the first place i had played that i would consider a profesional site. I had played on off for the last (long time.....damn....why did i join the IAA....now i cant say these kind of things...) and it was and still is great. Its a CQB airsoft site. Dont forget CQB doesnt mean indoors. Complaining that the pallets arent realistic is silly. Fair enough not alot of war zones are pallet filled but if you spray painted those pallets grey and drew brick lines you could say they are bits of blown up wall. Imagineation guys, we cant all find a site that has pre-existing bunkers, trenches and 15 story buildings. And the money to paint all those pallets and crap would be quiet expensive so perhaps at the moment it is out of reach.

I prefer woodland type airsofting and thanks to mad_ozzie that is now possible. But that doesnt mean its the last youll see of me at HRTA (yeah thats right.....im like a fungus....youll never know when ill be bac with my "funny" accent :P ) so please less HRTA hateing. Its a good CQB site.

I would like also to try the longford site but its one HELL of a trip to longford. Maybe during the summer, me and my mates make a weekend of it. Secretly camp on the game ground when yeve all left :P

So less of this inter-site bitching....i was wondering when it was going to start. Youll do nought but tear the community apart.

I think we all owe Nonex respect for taking a risk and setting up the first place in Ireland for people to play, there is certainly no need for digs against him guys...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 212 ✭✭monksavage

If the people running HRTA were interested alls they have to do really is spend e500 and hire out a fella on a track digger for 2 days. Scatter around a few trenches and bunkers and use the spare sod to heap up a few reveals around the place.

this thread is skirmish airsoft command, and not hrta, but any way, monksavage you might want to read up on the planing acts for ireland,
and dig away, i have 2 diggers myself:D

Paul, Didn't i wasn't getting at you, I was just stating that i seen photos and video of when you first opened the second site, And it looked alot better then what it is now,

The Airsoft community owes you alot for taking that chance and helping to get the sport up and running and for that you have our respect,

But as you said yourself the sport is alot bigger now, And alot of sites are opening witch is good, It will push the standards higher,

No Irish site is anywere near the level as the Yanks or even some of the Uk sites, But we are getting there,

As i said in another thread, My Team would be more then happy to Help out to make the sites better, Because in the end we are the ones that get a better site to play on,

If you could, Re arrange the hole site, Break it up in to two play zones, one CQB (ie, FIBUA ) and get the digger out and put some hills in with a few trenches and bunkers, You have the space and it wouldnt be that much work,

at the moment the county council wont let me do a lot like put some hills in with a few trenches and bunkers, dublin council is harder to talk with than down the coutry my hands are some what tired at the moment.

appologies to nonex, i wasnt attacking you personally, nor your site and do appreciate the financial risk you have taken by setting up the site, i just found it somewhat ironic that a member would slate another potentially good site and say that it may be a rubbish dump when the videos of HRTA on youtube showed what looked like a scrapyard with pallets and scrapped Hiaces, jetskis ect.
    no offence intended
