It's a rented house so I don't want to do any damage. Anybody know what kind of material I should put underneath it?

    Thanks and regards.

is it a laminate, semi-solid or solid floor

Is it an upstairs or ground floor room and is the floor (not the cosmetic part) wooden or concrete.

Mickk might be able to supply some rubber mats, if not then try Gymratz or Vjhomefitness. There are also foam mats in Argos which are not as good. Rubber mats of a reasonable thickness will protect the floor from scraping from the cage and bench and will provide some shock absorption from dropped plates etc.. However I woudn't like to drop a heavy barbell from a height in an upstairs room no matter what rubber coating was on the floor unless the first floor was concrete (some buildings have concrete upper floors)

Some second hand carpet is the job for it. The mats can be awkward as you need a lot of them for the bench to go on as it extends a nice bit past the cage when benching.

Second hand lino or carpet is the business
