OK, nominate your BOARDS on-line player of the year.

To nominate someone just throw up their boards nick here. If someone doesn't have a boards name, they can't be nominated.

EDIT: DUE TO NUMBER OF NOMINATIONS FOR THIS CATEGORY, TO BE NOMINATED A PLAYER MUST HAVE A SECONDER.

See post #44 or whatever is is for the list of People proposed.

Nominations close on Friday, 30th November 2007 at 13:00.

    Either Valor or AKQJ10

  • Subscribers Posts: 32,859 ✭✭✭✭5starpool

This is a very subjective category I think as there isn't exactly loads of info out there on most people.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,537 ✭✭✭Ste05

Also remember there is a boards Off-line player of the year coming up next, so this is for on-line only. As Dom says it's very subjective, but just something to keep in mind.

jus to point out guys, its not who won the most - but the best online player of the year. in my opinion this may also be someone who has improved the most. all nominated so far are very worthy winners too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 290 ✭✭mickste

Ianmc for me. consistently improved over the last year. Not looking foward to his improved game when he comes back home soon. Hope he remembers the tilt implosion button he was fond of playing live though..:D

AGREE - being the best at anything doesnt necessarily equate to winning the most. Manager of the Year in football last year was Steve Coppell, Reading didnt win any trophy. Andy Roddick (tennis), Jimmy White (snooker), Phil Mickleson (golf), are all examples of tremendous sportsmen who would have won a lot more other than running into someone unbelievable at the time.

I know he has an account here somewhere so im gonna nominate Derek Murray (greenrizla).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,187 ✭✭✭Flushdraw

Nicky Power...He's gone deep in so many big MTTs and just missed out on a few EPT packages by a whisker. He did win a prague package and is a consistent winner at STTs.

It is specifically not for the person who has improved the most over the year. It's the reason I brought in the new catagory of most improved player of the year.

It's simply who you think is the best online player this year that posts on boards. Use whatever criteria you want but remember there is a most improved player award too. I personally will be picking the person who has won the most or who has been playing the highest levels consistently or basically who I think is the best on-line Player we have.

Any less and the award will be diluted, it is an honour to win this award.

But due to the fact that they did run into someone better then them, makes them runners up, not the winner, obviously deserve credit, but IMO good, but not the best!!

This is pretty much what I didn't want. If someone is relatively unknown here, I'll need to see a post on this forum about Poker from before today. It's an award for the regular users of the forum, hence why it's the BOARDS online player of the year. Taylor Caby has an account and has posted in the Poker forum, but he's not getting nominated either.

tks Tony but I dont think I should be in the running for this one because I simply haven't played online since may ( that mpp race where I got my wsop seat had me burned and broadband provider troubles the last couple of months). I really think this category could of been split cash/tourney players. I think Ollieboy has been the best boards tournament onliner by far this year

I agree with you about Ollieboy aswel..top online tournie player and i actually forgot about him.

Although we all know that a tournament player being voted best online player over a cash game player will get the standard LOL replies

    Why?

Can you show me an example of online success/achievement from them that would merit a nomination?

Edit: no offence to the 2 mentioned - just curious as to what they actually have done to merit it.

Ok, when I said Valor and its not even close I meant that he is a very successful online player BUT he is also a boardie who posts every day, he posts in most HH questions, He is the most consistents "boardie's boardie" if ya get me?

Also in this category are Roundtower and IanMc.

No offence meant to Robin Lacey or Halibut2 but I dont see so many posts from them.

    lol Peter.

Tbh I dont think I'm in any near Robin/Valor/Roundtower.

I would nominate them and also Ollieboy for his online donkament record. Also Dvdfan I think is definitely worthy of a vote as he's put in a lot of effort in improving his game and his posts are getting better by the day. There are some other players too who are making big improvements, Roadsweeper, Zuutroy. There are others but I cant think of them right now.

Also Cardshark for temporarily getting out of the gutter and VanDice who's the best addition to the forum in the past 12 months IMO.

I was going to post Van Dice too but I decided to keep that for best poster/contributer/improved rather that player whom I have "noticed winning online and enjoyed"

    My 2 cent post!

Does anyone want to try and work out who the feck has been nominated in this train wreck of a thread??

Someone do the honours there and then people can know who hasn't been nominated should they want someone nominated.

Again this is supposed to be a nomination thread, discuss who you think should win in the Voting thread.

    Please...

Thanks fellas, now maybe people can stop using this thread to chat. It makes working out who is actually nominated a nightmare.

Because there are already over 20 nominations - (the max possible Poll).

To get a nomination people must be seconded.

So here is a list of the people who have been Proposed, they all need a second (ONLY ONCE) and anyone who hasn't been proposed needs a proposal and a second. And please keep the "joke" nominations to a minimum.

    IanMc
    Valor
    The-Rigger
    Halibut2
    AKQJ10
    Macspower
    Dvdfan
    5pin5
    Olliyboy
    Reqiuem4dream
    kraken
    smoothcall
    Robin Lacey
    cardshark202
    mdwexford
    Roundtower
    FindingNemo
    Nicky Power
    Hectorjelly
    MPT
    O'Callagh
    VanDice
    Roadsweeper
    Zuutroy

EDIT: ALSO ONLY 1 SECOND PER POSTER.

RE-EDIT: DON'T SECOND SOMEONE YOU NOMINATED FIRSTLY EARLIER IN THE THREAD.
