Free Sky + Box - Need A Introduction

    Hi,

I just seen the new Sky ads on the TV for a free Sky + box but you need for an exsisting customer to 'introduce' you.

The neat thing is the exsisting customer gets a free Sky + box also!

Anyway, would any of you guys or gals mind 'intoducing' me? If not .. then just send me a message.

I still need to pay 45 euros for installation but it would have cost me close to 200 without the offer - plus you will also get a free Sky plus box. You could always sell it on as they fetch close to 150 on Ebay.

    Cheers,

    Nico

    Terms and conditions
To be eligible for the Introduce a Friend offer you must be a residential customer in UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man.
Does not seem its for Republic of Ireland

I'm a Sky subscriber and want to upgrade to Sky +, PM me if you think we can do it, can you send me the Sky link

just heard this offer on irish radio this morning...
however, at present their website states that the offer is only for uk at the moment.....may change later on today...

Just to let you know this offer IS available in Ireland. My friend just called and asked about it (she's the new customer, I'm the existing customer) and all I have to pay is a €45 instillation fee and we both get free sky + boxes. Happy days!

She's getting hers next Monday, then there's a number I must ring to get mine.

Is it still you need a phoneline? as i know 2 people that dont & one had to pay the extra E40, but i'd like to help out the other, you know Goodwill & all :D

Just heard the ad again briefly, cant remember it sayin free sky+ box for each, but tuned in more to hear the ph. no to ring -> 0818719500 Good luck

Well me and my friend are each getting a sky + box (I hope!!)

She doesn't have a phone line, I do. I'm not sure how much she's paying for intillation.

I got an installation last Tuesday, so missed the sky+ deal by 3 days!!!! If anyone wants a referral, let me know. I certainly wouldn't say no to a free sky+ box.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 629 ✭✭✭Clum

Does the existing customer have to pay for the installation of the Sky+ box (extra cable to LNB, etc)?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5 legless_joe

I doubt it since it would just be replacing the previous box, you don't get another viewing card. So it's still the same cable to the lnb. But you do need a phone line, so if you don't have that, you might have to pay.

    Hi,

Thanks to all who offered the referral -- however, something crazy happened and I was put through the UK 'refer a friend' and the girl just said 'is this about the free Sky + box and I said yes and she took 45 euros for instalation and i'm getting it Friday!

    Don't know what happened there.

Anyway, I'll post back and let you know how it goes.

Good luck all with getting the free boxes.

    Nico

Existing customer here - anyone need a referral ? Wouldn't mind a Sky + box the missus always cancels my reminders on the EPG when there's something on she wants to watch and I keep missing my favourite shows!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 829 ✭✭✭standbyme

I wonder how much someone who has no phone-line has to pay for sky+ as they had to pay E40 for the normal sky a while back or maybe it'll be straightforward?, as they would have went for the sky+, cos that's how i got mine a few months ago when my brother introduced me :)

& i have someone who has no sky at all & no phoneline & would love to have it in for Christmas.

BTW: The installer comes with a sky+ box & see that you have one already, he just exchanges it & you pay E45 as i'd like one for the backroom, but is all this possible?

The no. is probably too late to ring now?

This sounds like a good deal .... would you own the +box after a year and could you cancel sub then and use the box to record free channels ...

I ordered the free sky+ this morning for the in laws and i got them a free multi room box too! No installation charge at all. I was told that i could be waiting 6 weeks for my free sky+ after the install date, so dont know what install (if any) i will have to pay, as it does not need any cabling done in my home.

Is this correct that you can use your +box to record free channels after you've cancelled the sub? I assumed you would no longer be able to record.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 358 ✭✭dkane

I'm pretty sure that the record function only works if you have an active Sky sub

    Hi,
There seems to be a lot of people on this thread that knows alot about SKY.
Could you answer these few Qs for me ....
If I become a new subscriber by getting referred and get the +box do I just pay 45 euro for installation ?
Does the 1/2 price for the first 3 months still work for this deal (with 2 premium channels)?
Can you cancel the premium channels after the first 3 months and go to a 22 euro deal per month?
Thus giving me time to watch all the movies I have SKY+'d during the previous 3 months?
I know time is running out for this deal (it may even be gone now)
    Thanks

Yes, the offer is for a free Sky box for you and the person who refers you. Both will pay €45 installation.
Does the 1/2 price for the first 3 months still work for this deal (with 2 premium channels)?
I would imagine it doesn't, you can avail of either offer but not both.

If you happen to be looking for someone to refer you for this deal feel free to pm me. I'm very interested in getting Sky+

Rang Sky myself to check this out.
New customers can still avail of the first 3 months at half price(with 2 premium channels) even if they also avail of this refer a friend offer. So happy days.

First in line to contact me was seamus.carey so im going with him as my referrer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,722 ✭✭✭anotherlostie

My sister rang Sky last night and got the Sky + box for herself and our homeplace. But when she asked about the additional multiroom boxes (mirrored cards) the woman from Sky did not know about this offer, so she did not have this option.

So I'm just wondering did anyone get the additional (in our case, 3) multiroom subscription for just €15, as a few posters have mentioned here.

What are the opening hours for to ring up this sky no. 0818719500

Also when you're referring someone, as im an existing sky+ subscriber, does the installer change boxes, as im wondering about the recordings on the original box!

Cheers, as there was no dial tone earlier? but just got off the phone now after speakin to a pleasant cork cailin, but she seemed to know very little as all i could hear was 'hold on a minute' a few times  but i'll let her away with that as i got the info i wanted to hear.

Rang Sky on number posted above @ 22.30 (0818 719500) as info on Sky web page was skimpy.
Got through to India and told that I would have to ring tomorrow on 1890 923935 between 8.00 and 20.00.

Existing customer here. Anyone interested please feel free to PM me.

    Kevin

EDIT: Can you watch one channel and record another???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,610 ✭✭✭Padraig Mor

Is it just me or is the 0818 719500 number not working - I'm just getting a "no such number"-type tone. The prerecorded blurb on 1890923935 says that you need account numbers for both parties, so I'm guessing that you only ring that to order the free box for the existing customer after registering the new customer.

What if the missus rang up as a new customer? She could say she is renting a room in the house and is putting the sky box into her own room. Would this work?

One thing that I'm wondering... I just signed up to sky a few weeks ago on the basic €20 eur a month package. What are they like if you call them and threaten to cancel? Do they tend to give better offers (eg free sky+ etc) if they think you're going to cancel?

    Hi,

I introduced someone to the Sky+ service a few days ago and rang Sky today to get the free Sky+ box for myself.

Of course, I needed to dial several numbers and speak to several people before they could properly deal with my request.

Eventually I got someone who took all my details and the details of the person I introduced and said that I would get the box after 28 days.

When I asked, how would they arrange install etc, I was told that they'd call or write to me.

Has anyone else had an experience in this? Does it usually take this long as the person that I introduced was told they would only take 7-10 days. Is this because they're the new customer?

    Any ideas?

I had the very same experience yesterday. It was very hard to get through to the Introduce a Friend number, once I eventually got through I was on hold for a good 20 minutes. I was then put through to the call centre in India where the girl took both account details and said I would be contacted in the next 28 days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,654 ✭✭✭givecredit

Maybe they are saying 28 days, in case the new customer cancels in the first month "Cooling off period"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 343 ✭✭aidz

i joined sky with the introduce a friend option this week.
my sky+ is to be installed in a week. when i opened my account i got a job reference number. this number along with my account number must be quoted by my friend (existing customer) to claim his sky+ box. my friend who referred me is to recieve his sky+ box in 6-8 weeks.

    hope that info helps...
