Lower body routines

    Hi

I have been working away busily since Feb and am very happy with my results. When I started I was always happy with my legs but wanted to tighten the old belly and build the upper body...

.....Job done...huge changes in the uppr body achieved but now I feel I left the legs behind...... Doh ! :o

Any beginners advice on building the calfs, hammers and quads would be greataly appreciated?

Diet, committment and desire are no problem. Im really enjoying working out and go 4/5 times a week every week.

Squats seem quite intimidating as I have had lower back issues in the past and I feel Id like a session with a trainer to kick that sort of work off.

    cheers
    DM

Squat , squat and squat some more. They really are king of the leg exercises.

You could maybe try squat 5x5 (trying to move up evry week for 4-6 weeks), followed by leg press 3x12-15, pull thrus 3x12 and leg Curls 3x12.

    Simple but effective.

The basics will always work, everyone wants to use a fancy new biomechanically designed program but lets face it, bodybuilders have been building their legs for the last 4 decades using the above exercises, proof enough they work imo.
