I was just thinking even though 360 has released some cracking games, being honest there is a lot of games that are crap.

Feel free to add or agree.

VAMPIRE RAIN (prob the worst game I ever played)

CALL OF DUREZ (the western game)

    JERICO

    TIMESHIFT

That’s all I can think of right, but know there is a lot more.

Juarez.... The game you talked about sounds like a mix of Duty and Juarez

And yes, what little I've played of those has been pants. But I prefer to focus on the positive, since poor games have no effect on my budget or gaming!

The Darkness was absolute rubbish. It was well presented and some of the art was good but it was just a terrible game with the worst enemy AI I've ever encountered. The story was complete pish as well.

*sets himself up for a backlash*

    OverLord

    *Cowers into corner*...

I just did not like this game. And dont get me started on PES 2008.. And UEFA Champions League. Pointless pointless game.

Aye, I just couldn't get into Dead Rising at all, which is a shame seeing as it was the main reason I got a 360 in the first place...
GoW and Lost Planet were great though (albeit in a play through them once and never return kind of way...)

If by stiff you mean sh1t, then yes I agree :p

Halo 3, Dear Rising, Saints Row, Crackdown, Just Cause, Tenchu Z, Far Cry, DiRT, American Wasteland, Over G.

Halo 3 isn't that bad, I'm no Halo fan but some people just seem to love hating it because everyone over-hyped it like mad. Dead rising isn't a bad game at all, for what it is, mindless violence it plays quite well. Saints Row wasn't too bad either, not a bad copy of GTA at all. Crackdown on its first 10 hours or so is a brilliant game. DiRT is a good game too, nothing wrong with it at all.

I think Halo3 is a vast improvement in the series but we cant really argue if it didn't impress Kenny, must take a lot to impress him though ;)

I thought Halo was way over hyped and couldn't even bring myself to finish 2 but 3 (while I have not finished it, it destroyed my save game, I will be finsihing it at a lan on saturday week) was a definite improvement and the level design was a vast improvement. On my 360/TV combo though the lack of AA made it look second rate though

    pro evo 08

    From what i've played:

Halo 3: very unimpressive single player campaign. If it wasn't for Live, it would have been binned!
Dead Rising: could never get into it either. Awkward to control and voice acting was dire.
Gears Of War: too easy apart from the final boss (can't recall his name but quite a step up from the rest of the game). Far too short too.

Gears of War? Are you people crazy?! It had one of the best co-op modes in memory. It was a bit short but I had hardly put it in the "didn't impress" category.

Halo 3 single-player was underwhelming though. Multiplayer is where Master Chief lives.

Dead Rising was great fun, Saints Row was a welcome change from the rest of the games that were out at the time. Crackdown got boring real fast, GRAW games were brilliant! and Kameo was good, especially for kids. Haven't played the rest.
Remind me to buy any game you don't like ;)

Dirt. I loved the demo. Then I played the full game and it didn't feel the same.
Assassins Creed. First hour is good. Then you just do the same thing over and over again.
PES 08. Only slightly upgraded from the last version.

NHL '07 - Got it really cheap on e-bay but it was terrible. Not a patch on NHL '93.

At least I got €25 for it in trade in for PES 2008 (which is great in my opinion, dispite what people are saying in this thread.)

The Darkness - such a mess. Good example of why every game shouldn't have a multiplayer. Imagine how much better it would have been had the developers not wasted their time on it and just focused on the SP.

COD3 - the MP was ok but the SP was buggy crap, stupid cutscenes, etc. Thank god Infinity Ward came back for COD4.

Halo 3 SP - every time I even think about that second last level I want to find every member of the Bungie team that designed it so I can torture them to death. Worst level in video game history.

I really like Dirt as well. Not perfect but at least it wasn't tedious as Forza became after a while.

Big Pro Evo fan, hated 2008.

Lost Planet was terrible as was Saints Row

And although Assassins Creed is good it is nowhere near as good as the hype its been receiving. Terrible ending

Dead Rising - one of the worst games I ever played in my life, absolutely hated it, and I was so looking forward to it.

Halo 3 - rubbish single player, that level towards the end where there are millions of the flood to wade through drove me particularly insane - the multiplayer is alright tho

Staints Row - played the demo, hated it, deleted it.

    Far Cry Instincts - rubbish

    GRAW - hated it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,422 ✭✭✭RAIN

Dead Rising was just awfull - it seemed to want to punish you for playing it.

    Fear
    Lost Planet
    Quake4
    The Darkness

I thought Dead Rising was OK, it had the awkward Japanese menus to navigate but it's a challenge to complete it, a good hard game.

Did any of you who hate it actually finish it, I'd say a good few thought it was too hard.
DIRT is cool too, great to play.

    REAL BAD
Just Cause - returned after a few days
    FN3
Nearly every EA game is sh!te actualy to be honest don't bother with them.
    Condemned
Saints Row was a little annoying but not totally crap

Gears of War. Despite it getting 10/10s everywhere (including a rare one from Games TM magazine) I must admit I think it's bollocks.
It's a game that wishes it was Resident Evil 4. The graphics might be (slightly) better, but it falls flat on its face in every other department compared to RE4 - story, pacing, characters, bosses, combat, art direction, set pieces, choice of weapons (including shot-gun satifyability - shotgun in Gears is a piece of ****e).

Gears was a chore towards the end, just as wlel it's also a piss-short game. I thought General Raam was gonna be some mid game boss. Turned out he was the end game one.

    SLIGHTLY better graphics than RE4?

youre either ray charles or playing it on a 15 inch portable SD tv i assume.

Tbh id rate GOW easily up with RE4. RE4 is classic but its story drags on too long and the best part is the opening in the village area. They shouldve halved the castle level. Gears may have been short but it was (driving section aside) constantly enjoyable. Annnnnnnyway...

TDU: got traded in after those failing yet another ****ing annoying hitch hiker mission
FEAR: traded in after an hours play. looks like a dogs dinner and about as scary as the partridge family.
    Viva pinata: BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING
Cod4: meh. seen it all before.

Have the PC version of FEAR and didn't bother finishing it.
Every bloody battle is the game. It's fun charging in with 2 guns in slow mo mode at the start, but after doing it 300 times It's begins to become ever so slightly boring.

As for the graphics of RE4 v Gears of War. Let's just say when I threw the disc into the Gamecube I was blown away. I certainly wasn't with GOW.
And my TV might be SD, but it's about 22 inches or something.

You can't comment on GOWs graphic playing on a standard T.V. of any size, let alone something that small.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,644 ✭✭✭Asmodean

I loved Gears to be honest. The darkness sucked doneky dick alright with its goddamn glitchy MP. Halo3 is great fun co-op but man the halo storylines are dire. Its the exact same story for every single game! with the only variance as to being whether you're trying to stop one halo or all the halos. Pah!

All depends on how u looked at it..it's still better than the Ace combat series..now they're pants..point trigger and shoot...
At least Over G makes an attempt at being a sim which it doesn't quite pull off but it's a lot better than any other plane sim out there on console...
    as for crap games? Assassin's Creed/Bullet Witch/Crackdown

I'll have nothing bad said about Viva Pinata, it's excellent.

I agree that GoW is far from 10/10 territory but it's far from bad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,304 ✭✭✭✭koneko

Well, he does have a point, you'll probably be surprised how much better GoW looks when you try it on a HDTV, it really does look great.

The best thing about Gears is co-op, I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as I did if it wasn't for the co-op.

Also, everyone in this thread is crazy, Dead Rising kicks ass.

For me, off the top of my head, Overlord and Saints Row, it's not that they're bad games, they just didn't "click" for me. I think I'll give Overlord another try when I'm done with my current games.
