Not forgetting Arnies classic Jingle All The Way.
Ted: Howard. They say it might get icy later. You might wanna wrap some chains around those tires.
Howard Langston (Arnie): Maybe I should wrap some chains around you.
    Ted: What?

Ok, we dont celebrate X-mas in our house (due to tragady in the past)
However, I always watch these films at X-mas to remember the good Old times..
    some have been mentioned before...

    In no particular order
    1. Santa Cluase (1985, with Dudley Moore and John Lithgow)
    2. Scrooged
    3. Indiana Jones Trilogy
    4. Vice Versa
    5. Planes Trains and Automobiles (I know it's a thanksgiving movie, but it was always on at X-mas)
    6. Posiden Adventure (1972 of course!)
    7. All I want for Christmas
    8. Home Alone 1 & 2
    9. Muppets Christmas Carrol
    10. Never Ending Story

That's all It have for now, might add more later

    1. Jurassic Park
    2. The Polar Express (its unbelievably christmassy.)
    3. Home alone
    4. Back to the Future
    5. Santa Clause (do not touch the second one! *shivers*)
6 The Matador (because I just realised it needs a re-watch, sooo good)
    7. The Cable Guy

    Enjoy!

Santa Claus: The Movie (the one with Dudley Moore). It used to be a tradition in my house when I was growing up to get the VHS out in the run up to Christmas and watch it. I haven't seen it in ages now but actually saw it on sale in HMV yesterday, I might just buy it to relive the memories.

    Its a Wonderful Life
A Christmas Carol (George C. Scott version)
    Scrooged

I know the last two are technically the same movie but they are a complete different treatment of the same text.

Not really Christmas movies but shown at Christmas:

Muppet Christmas Carol... it doesn't get any better than that! Also, slightly unrelated I read 101 Dalmations, the book, every Christmas Eve. Have done since I was little. The book is quite Christmasy and atmospheric.

I've said it before it has to be Arnold's classic "Jingle All The Way"

with quotes like this how can it be bad.
Ted: Howard. They say it might get icy later. You might wanna wrap some chains around those tires.
Howard Langston (Arnie): Maybe I should wrap some chains around you.
    Ted: What?

Die Hard (Now I've got a machine gun.........ho ho ho.)

    Nightmare Before Christmas

    Muppet Christmas Carol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,002 ✭✭✭bringitdown

Muppets Christmas Carol is great, but I say The Great Escape ... now that makes me feel christmas!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,488 ✭✭✭Goodshape

I watched Elf last night. There was potential for greatness but I thought it was fairly awful tbh.

It's a Wonderful Life is probably the best. Muppet's Christmas Carrol is great too.
