Its been confirmed for a good while now :D
Its out on the 27th of this month , and is called 'Benders Big Score'. It will be followed by three other movies, most likely released in 2008. These 4 movies will be edited into 16 episodes , and shown on Comedy Central in the us next year. So there is no 14 new ep season as such, but if these are as big a hit as I anticipate, they will renew the show for production of a season 6[the 4 movies edited into the 16 eps is to be labelled season 4].

Edit: Just found out its only out on region 1[us] release the 27th, no region 2 release as yet for us. Time for the playusa region 1 buy I guess!

    lol

it's fairly ****ing awesome so far, 5 minutes
i'm a doctor sir, the mere fact that I'm blonde and have a breathy voice, full sensual lips and a steaming hot body doesn't make me a bimbo

good show alright, enjoyed it, but the 90 minute run time drags on a bit.. some very good gags in there!

I saw it last night and I loved it, only problem was no Calculon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 327 ✭✭sme

yeah, i noticed that too. there was practically every other character ever, but no calculon.

although zapp said something brilliantly stupid, no just stupid. iwas happy.

on the whole its very good, but i htought the story got slightly over complicated at times. and why
did they not just shoot the naked aliens or something like that? there were times when bender wasn't with them.
    did i miss something?

    EDIT:

Mr. E, i just noticed your edit, sorry i didn't realise it wasn't allowed on this forum. shan't do it again.

what channel will it be on....or indeed, what website should i go to?

This was quite good and definitely one that fans of the show will appreciate. A lot of the content of the movie would be lost on people who aren't big fans of the show. However, I would have much preferred 4 standalone episodes instead of this movie. I just prefer the faster pace of the normal episodes.

Yeah 90 mins maybe a bit long but saying that i really enjoyed it, some very funny lines in it.
    Glad to see it back.:)

fantastic, ive waited years. futuramas best episode would probbley be either
    roswell that ends well
    or
where no fan has gone before

two of the finniest cartoon episodes ever up there with the simpsons "you only movie twice" (scorpio episode)

Futurama was amazing i lvoed it, ive been waiting for years. I just love the stupidity like
Nibbler: Quick! Everybody! out of the univerce
but the annimatiuon of how they show it is so funny, its like when david blain ate his own face in south park

Out today, still no region 2 release date though- any news if Sky 1 plan to show it?

I didn't really enjoy it at all. There were a few good lines, but little else to keep my attention. Hopefully the new series will be better.

I enjoyed it. The overly complicated storyline just makes me want to go back and watch it again!

    Your speaking in riddles.

If you own something you are legally entitled to back it up, with the exception of OEM software from some suppliers but besides that music, movies,tv shows if you own the DVD you can download, i have allot of legal matrial downloaded because most of the stuff i download i will buy unless its bollox and ill stop downloading it. Wahoo cant wait for bsg season 1 in HD next week. and i must also order heroes season 1 hd because thats been out a while but ive been a tad short on cash last month.

So if there has been a transaction and you have provided funding to futurama (Thank you btw) then download it, its legal and you get it now and also you dont have to swap discs or anything like that with hassle.

It would be great if everyone who downloaded it would buy it.

Any word on a Region 2 release?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

Watched this last night, and will certainly be buying the DVD once it is available on Region 2, if for no other reason for the extra of "Everybody Loves The Hypnotoad".

It was a very good show, though i didn't find it particularly funny. The storyline got a bit ridiculous and had me entirely confused, but as mentioned above by someone, this only makes me want to watch it again.

I didn't really have a problem with the timing, in that I didn't feel it ran too long or anything.

My only dissapointment is that Zapp Brannigan didn't have a bigger role.

On the whole though, Futurama fans will love this.

and i was dissapointed that there wasent more pointless zoidberg scenes

I loved it (although I'm a huge Futurama fan anyway) but thought it was a little bit drawn-out. I'll wait for the region 2 disc, but I'll definitely buy it.

The start was rubbish but it improved. Didn't find it all that confusing.

thought it was terrible, took me 3 sittings to watch the whole thing.

What's not to love in an hour and a half Futurama episode?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 776 ✭✭✭Tomk1

Totally excellent, could not wait to watch, after the drought and definitely will buy as soon as in shops.
Its even better the second and third time, Intelligent sci-fi humour and was ahead of it's time.

Just one question why is this in “cartoon” thread and not “Sci-Fi & Fantasy”

The movie/episode fills in a lot of blanks, like the death of Fry’s dog, flying saucers distroying NY, but does open up a few questions, the Globe trotters are cool.

Finally had the pleasure of sitting though this and it totally lived up to the hype. Chock a block full of fan service (you've got to love the cameo appearances and subtle jabs at old scenes and storylines -
loved how they showed NY being destroyed using the same sequence from the pilot
), excellent parody (the Terminator sequence was superb) and all the other intelligent and hilarious material we've come to expect from Futurama.

Simpsons movie was OK and all, but this really shows it up. Can't wait for films 3-4!

Watched it, thought it was pretty good during it. But,afterwords, I relised I had not laughed once during it. Heck, not even raised a smile. It just wasn't funny. And thats where it fails compared to , say, The Simpsons movie. I would say the Futurama one is of higher quality, but the simple truth is-they are both comedys, the aim o a comedy is to make you laugh, and Simpsons movie done that a bit for me, and Futurama didn't.

Maybe it's just me, but I hated that bit (brief and all that it was). It completely contradicted the episode and has none of the emotional impact that the original story behind him did. It just smacked off getting Seymour into the storyline somehow without much consideration for how.

Overall, I enjoyed the film, but it really felt more like a drawn-out episode and could have been shorter (and should have had more Zapp).

I read somewhere in the vastness of the internet yesterday that after the next two movies are released, they are going to break the films down into episodes, add some more scenes to make them episode length, and release the whole lot as Season 5.
Dont know if thats true, but if that is the case, I think I'd rather NOT see it and wait for the DVD set of Season 5.
On the other hand, if someone handed me a copy of the film now, I'd just grab it, run off to my TV room and order a big bag of popcorn.
    Decisions decisions.

Watching the film for a second time last night with my friends, I couldn't disagree with you more. While Futurama may lack belly laughs, I for one was giggling and grinning throughout. The Simpsons movie only really had a couple of laugh out loud moments (e.g. the skateboarding sequence) but they were largely cheap, slapstick moments.

Bender's Big Score, on the other hand, is full of sly one liners, split second jokes and hilarious fan reference. It is vastly more intelligent than the Simpsons Movie was, and has the jokes to match. C'mon: the Terminator riff; the constant revisitation of characters from older episodes (e.g. Bubblegum, Barbados); the bizarre and brilliant quotes ("You haven't heard the last of Barbados Slim: Now goodbye for ever!" "In fact, most of them died from their injuries!"). It is an hilarious film. If you want cheap laughts, The Simpsons Movie is great. Want some jokes you have to work for and respect the cultural knowledge of the audience? Bender's Big Score ftw.
