Treadmill at home...

Its not really a "fitness" question...but I'm just wondering is it possible to have a treadmill at home in an average 2 story 3 bedroom house...
I mean...would having one upstairs be a good idea or would it be too heavy for the floor to take? And would it be really noisy (not the machine, but the pounding on it?)
    Hope these arent silly q's!
Saw one in Elvery's today for €750 and really considering buying it...if its possible to fit it in my bedroom.
    Thoughts....
    Thanks :)

For the love of god don't put the treadmill upstairs.
I once stayed in a hotel for two months and the hotel gym and treadmills was above my room.

It's seriously loud plus your floor will take a pounding.

Find somewhere out of the way downstairs.

You'll end up with a very expensive clothes horse.;), Don't do it, you'll use it for the first 3 weeks and then not bother.

You've €750 to spend, join a gym or better still try a few pay-as-you-go ones normally only €6-10 a pop. If you really enjoy it then join one.

If your going to buy home equipment - get a skipping (speed) rope. If after 6 weeks you can do 15-20mins of slow/fast (30 secs/30 secs) workout and not get sick, then think about getting a threadmill...

Seriously, don't waste your money on a treadmill. Seriously.

You could get a very decent weights set for that, or join a gym. The weights set would give you infinitely better fitness results.

    What's stopping you running outdoors?

    I'll do my mastercard thing:

Quality pair of running shoes- €80-€130
An afternoon in Penneys buying: A wooly hat, a scarf, tracksuit bottoms, 5 or 6 t-shirts and pairs of socks, a fleece top- Approximately €80
A digital watch from Argos- €20
    A 512mb MP3 player- €20

The ability to run outdoors without fear of falling into your living room- Priceless!

Seriously though, you are better off in the great outdoors with the rest of us mental runners. I haven't been able to run for 6 weeks because of an injury and I'm gumming to go now. You can pick new routes each week, hills, shopping centres, parks. You get fresh air, a cold nose and a great high from it. Plus, your spare bedroom doesn't smell of sweat.

A chinning bar will easily fit in your room, costs a ~tenner, or a good removable one is around 50 from Mickk at www.irish-lifting.com a 55kg set of weights is €80 there too.

If you goal is losing fat then it is a great method. You can do pushups to work the chest, or get rings www.ringtraining.com to loop on the chinning bar & do dips and pushup variations.
