Anyone been watching it? (Starts this Thursday but free to stream on the BBC3 website now). Start of ep1 I thought it was worse than the previous season just with a bigger budget but the overall its been quite excellent.

Love the return of Tony Harrison. This is an outrage!

Not a big Boosh fan (overrated at the best of the times) but it's fun enough so I'll give it a watch.
Although I still think it's a disgrace this gets a third season and Garth Marenghi only got one :(

I think the Boosh is not rated enough! Can't wait for this

Can't wait to watch it tonight! Got an error when I tried to stream it on the bbc website, but I think I'd rather watch it on TV anyway

I reckon that was probably a decision by the creators rather then the network. Theres only so much you can do of that type of comedy, one series felt enough (and what a series)

Enjoyed that tonite, some great dialogue between Howard and Vince. The "Cockney Urine" moment was a bit classic. The eels song at the end was pretty weak though.

    looking forward to catching this

good return from the Boosh - great cockney eel villain, and the Shaman stag do was fantastic. I actually liked the song at the end - "combining the old and the new to create something not as good as either" - genius.

Yeah I have to agree... classness on a bike... it did seem a bit different than I remember, higher budget etc... but it's still class..

True - in fact Darkplace isn't nearly as good on repeat viewing as it was the first time IMO.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

I managed to catch the repeat last night.

I enjoyed it a lot.. Mmmm... The Evil Cockney is always fun to see... I'm seriously considering dressing up as him for the next boards beers... Maybe from now I'll only go to the beers dressed a Boosh character... I'd love to have a go at Mr. Susan some time too....

They probably could have done more with the shaman stag party in this episode... not one mention of the crunch... I was disappointed.

Go as Glam Vince - he's a cutie! I've only started watching this show since the start of this series, and I like it. Its incredibly odd but enjoyable. A bit like Garth Merengi.

Okay I just caught up with episode 1 of the new series, I had not ever seen Mighty Boosh before so only has a vague idea of what to expect.

That was the wierdest slice of telly since I saw the barking mad climax of The Prisoner in 1982.

Now it was'nt perfect, despite that (!). Some of its crazynes was obvious but it had some wonderfully lucid visual ideas and even moments of poetic charm, however it kinda undermined its own spark with pee gags and one or two moments of "dead humour" rather than black humour.

    That said I'll watch again.

    Mike.

It's a show that takes a while to get into at first... You should probably seek out the previous seasons... as a lot of the jokes in this episode were references to previous jokes... including the peeing one.

But it's a hugely rewatchable show... I never get sick of watching the old episodes.

Odd show, and I'm not quite sure why I don't enjoy it more. Perhaps a bit too pushed or something, but the cockney villian is genius. Stag do was a bit weak mind. Thought the eel dance was perhaps one of the most surreal things I've seen anywhere.

meh! first time seeing it and thought it was fairly useless tbh, couldn't see why it's so acclaimed at all.

the second episode was genius too, couldnt stop laughing at
the spirit of jazz talking to vince's blood cells..

"I've got a top shop voucher for ya"
    "Yeah that's genius"

    and

"hey you! i gots some hair spray around the corner....."
"ooooh il take it off your hands....."

    love this show so much..

I love this show, it's the funniest thing on telly.
Noel is my perfect man-so funny and gorgeous.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,239 ✭✭✭✭WindSock

Missed the first one :( but caught the second :)

Anyone catch the monty python reference with the white blood cells?

    'We are all Vince'

    'I'm Not'

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

I didn't enjoy this as much as the first one...

A lot of the stuff inside the brain wasn't particularly funny... and I feel the show is in danger of going too self referencing and not bothering to come up with enough new material.

    Loved stationary village though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Are you saying it lacks depth? :D

Good to see peeps are still willing to reference Fantastic Voyage as a plot device.

    Mike.

The song the blood cells were singing was quality.

Howard is definitely my favourite, he is way cooler than Vince

Howard as a character is actually way funnier than Vince.

Howard is the funny guy Vince is the straight man, but they look/act the other way round. Clever.

Great to see the return of Bob Fossil in that one...

"...And that's why I can't stand for that!"

Classic tonight.. The crack fox was brilliant. Just curious. Does anyone have any problems watching the show online? The BBC3 website always has an error for me.

Yeah... could never get it working either... might be because we don't have UK IP addresses.

I forgot, two more chances to tape it.

only had half an eye on it last night, as i was putting up the xmas tree...

couldn't stop laughing at the conversation between the council and
    kirk staring into space

have to say the crimp episode was by far and away the best of this series so far, and one of the strongest episodes of the three seasons.. future sailors... genius..

    THEY GOT GARY NUMAN!!!

    genius.

also... how many people find themselves constantly referencing boosh in daily life? genius is now 100% part of my regular vocabulary when something makes me happy. and i go off on howard-type rants quite the often too.

does anyone think that the moon in this series looks a little different?
im not sure if i like the bigger budget style of this series, but i love all tehir chasing scenes, fantastic! also bollo, he looks better in series two, i think.

maybe there is actually no difference and i should watch em all again when sober, but i did absolutely thoroughly enjoy watching what's been aired so far last night.

gotta agree too, mr fudge, the stationary village was fantastic. the punk song was quite the entertaining too, not to mention vince scatting! and vince as amy winehouse and wiht his little family of vinces. absolutely genius.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,984 ✭✭✭Venom

The Moon is the same guy as the previous seasons.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,196 ✭✭✭Crumble Froo

oh yeah, i know that (had to laugh wehn howard did it too... i think twas saturn or jupiter ended up eating him)... but the effects or something looked different i thought... looked more computery or something.

    howard, wasn't it?!

    julian, whatever...

Yeah thought it was him, couldn't be sure though

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 97 ✭✭sweetoblivion

Yeah, it was Julian who played the Crack Fox! In that episode, Steve Oram (of Oram and Meeten) played the scottish tramp.
After being completely obsessed with the previous two series, at first I was slightly let down by this series (episode one, Eels, was awful) but now I've grown to love it and appreciate how much darker it is. Journey to the Centre of a Punk, Crack Fox and Party are all up there with my favourite Boosh episodes. The dynamic of the relationship between Vince and Howard has changed a lot in this series which disappointed me a bit. But this series really is Howard's series, whereas series 2 was Vince's. I'm so sad it's over, but can't wait for the tour! Got me front row tickets for the first night and will be meeting up with loads of other Boosh fans from their official forum :)

The only problem is deciding who I dress up as for the live show...

I've already done the Spirit of Jazz and The Hitcher... Old Greg is definitely next on my list.

But I can definitely see the crack fox featuring in the future at some stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

Look it up in the usual places.

It's possible that we aren't allowed talk about it on boards though... now that I think of it.

I'm a big fan of the Boosh and have the first 2 seasons on dvd but I cant help getting a feeling that it could be much much better. Theres lots and lots of good ideas and the two guys that write it are clearly very creative and witty but...its not consistent enough. I think they should get in another couple of writes with experience so that the episodes are funny throughout. As it is, there are some hilarious moments, some pretty funny moments and quite a lot of unfunny moments.

A couple of the problems are obvious. The songs often feel forced. They work really well sometimes (Old Gregg) but are awful in some episodes. I also think the show lacks some some secondary characters. Bolo & Naboo are really awful...terrible. Rich Fulcher (who plays the zoo keeper) and some other characters is also awfully unfunny for the most part.

Having said that, Its still one of my favorite shows. It so whacky & creative with tonnes of great ideas. I just wish it was a bit more consistent.
